I’d go with the smaller (5gallon) on the first grow, but that’s just inexperienced me on my first grow also. Less soil, water, etc. and they’ll still get plenty big.
Let us know how it’s going!

The question is how big is your space and how big do you want you plants 4 plants can get huge in 5 gallons and I would go to solo cups or 1 gallons asap let them out grow the rim of the cup or pot transplant again to the 5s …u can go strait to the 5s but over watering is very easy make a small hole and water 2 cups or so around the plant like a ring so the roots have to seek the water but dont make it bone dry so it has no water but also dont soak the whole medium…ull stunt them easily plants uptake nutrients when the soil drys out to much h moisture suffocates roots
Very nice looking plants, great job so far.
Flat as paper leaves is a happy plant
A lot has happened since the last picture. I added a Blumat watering device. I will be away for a week and was told these work well. I had a great idea, create the reservoir and just add the nutrients to that and they would get a slow drip feed. Sure sounded good, at least to me. The issue I saw a couple hours after install, the feed settled to the bottom. After noticing this I flushed the tank and just went to PH 6.0 water there. In prep for adding, the how to videos, started with a flush of the plants. This was all done Sunday.
To reference the last post, I’m no longer flat as paper and looking for advice before I do anything else that may make things worse.
I have large fan leaves blocking new growth. Does anyone remove the large leaves to allow better light penetration?
Only problem I can see with that if your having to ph your giant mixture and your going to feed over time I have found my water from my ph going down from my ro water to my concoction trying to premixed nutes … if I had to ph up or down the ph over time rose or fell back to where it was in a period of 4 days
Do a test run and check ph daily on a smaller scale of course
I also has super hard well water with 289 ppm base line before ro system that got me to 14 ppm but ph up or down still would dissipate just so you know it can happen to be aware of it
I’m the odd ball here. Y’all so all this special stuff and me…not so much.
My seeds once they have a tap root go straight into my grow buckets. Then straight into the tent. The HLG lights are at the top and I never adjust my lights. They stay at the same spot and some have see my GSC in Beast Mode.
No pH check at all. I keep it simple and it pays off. Now once I can get my crops planted at the same time I will be making a serious change. Try picking seeds that have the same flowering time and hope they stay pretty close to growth size.
@kcdave I call the one a bean stalk. They are fragile. I only had that happen once and I broke her rotating my buckets.
I have only been adding a gallon at a time. Once I saw all the nutrients fully settle to the bottom of the tank, I emptied all that and started over using only PH’ed down water. 1 gallon was added yesterday and I’ll check it later today and again before refill to see if there is a change. I took the nutrients that were in the tank and retained these. I added about 12 fl oz to each plant Saturday. I also did the first fimming and the results from that have been great too. I think I have about 3 or more likely 4 weeks left in Veg and then will make the switch to flower.
All the information here, the other forum’s and in the Grow Bible has sure made this easier. I would likely be on my 3rd or 4th attempt trying to get thru the germination otherwise.
@kcdave I don’t even do a flip. I went straight 12/12 cycle and I was still able to get a total of 3.32 oz dry off my Blue Dream. I only had 1 grow light for a 4x4 tent. I now have 3 BD under 2 HLG 260xl rspec kits.
Like I said I am the oddball grower here. I definitely march to the beat of my own drums.
If I remember correctly Blue Dream can get over 78” tall. I will be putting my 3 BD to the test with these new lights.
I know I tried to do too much too soon and I love your hands off approach. We will be out of town for a week coming up and that was the only reason I added the Blumat watering. Actually thought it was pretty cool the way it works and other than a nutrient feeding, the water has all come from this for 10 days now. Trying to keep it as simple as I can now and maybe get more daring on future grows. You going straight to 12 makes me believe my BD may turn out better than expected then.
@kcdave Remember that I didn’t have enough lighting.
First photo is the main Cola off my BD and it was 19”.
Second photo is with BD on the left and my beast of a GSC on the right. Under one grow light which means I was only getting piss poor penetration.
So don’t worry to much at first.
I only hope the drooling doesn’t short out the laptop
I’ve seen plenty of photos that is beyond drooping your tongue on the floor. I’m a amateur to many of the growers here.
I aswell noticed I tred to leave some mix over a few days even with an aerator in it and it still chunked up and grew algae only thing I’d think you’d be ok doing this with is with some already solid shed water like aquafina is 5.9 if you started with that added synthetic nutes with an aerator you might be able to make it work but dont quite me on that organic feed needs to be used at once it dosent hold good …the ph coming out my ro system is mid 5s after 5 days it’s back in the 8s where the natural well water is… I have no idea why…maybe the ro system somehow phs it to clean it I dunno but it rises when untouched
Also I used pure aquafina and several re al air stones and made one if @Jbums bubble clones and I would get black mold in pure water in a few days I dont know if it was water temps being high or what but if you can keep water cooler you might be ok hot water is a breeding ground for algae and bacterium
