Just checking to make sure my seedlings are coming along. My 2 biggest ones look like this they’re 6days old. Is this how they should be looking at this stage? Only watering I’ve done is with PH balanced water in a spray bottle I’ll give them a couple sprays a day. I think the light might have been too close it was probably 2-3 inches away rn it’s 6-7. I have a 40w blurple light on them. RH has been consistently between 70-80 temp 70-75. Should I be watering til a little run off or are sprays fine for this stage? Thanks everyone in advance
A seedling will only need a couple ml of water per day at most. Cannabis, regardless of age, like wet/dry cycles. I wouldn’t water a seedling to runoff. The roots will stand in water as the plant is not capable of absorbing much water, and that’s not good.
You will want to transplant before too much longer with that cup being only half full of soil.
She looks healthy!
And there are those of us that do water a seedling to runoff in a solo cup without any problems, as long as the wet/dry method is followed. I water fully to runoff starting from the beginning.
@BeenDannyG, see the beginning of my journal for a different perspective on the care of seedlings.
Looking leggy. You can add some more soil, up to around half way up the stem. Seedlings need humidity as they take their water through the leaf until they get their roots established. Light might be too close.
@Hellraiser @MidwestGuy @TEGRITY I was thinking of putting them under the 600w light with the ballast dimmed to 200w until I transplant. Or is it still too early?
I’d wait a week on the big light but do get a fan on em ASAP - a good breeze will get it building a strong stem right away. Plus fan will help dry the soil.
I’m having the same problem I was told to Dome them I think I over waterd not sure take a look dropping some picks for y’all would be open to people’s opinions
Wow! Those are some purple stems! Tag nicki. Humidity is a big deal when it comes to babies. You don’t really want to water. A light mist around them is good. Just want to keep a little moisture.
As for the light, I would do whatever it takes to ease the light for a few days. As they start to veg, increase.
As for the purple stems. Do you use Cal-mag?
Only thing is it’s so dry in the room that without the dome the RH gets down to 30%
Great thread! Reading rn!
@Hellraiser i see in your journal RH isn’t a huge concern for you. I took off my humidity done to start the fan over the plants and the RH has dropped to 17% is that too low??
Yeah I don’t worry too much about RH but 17RH is pretty low, I would try to bring that up a bit. You can use a humidifier, hang a wet towel in the tent, have a bucket of water in the tent with a air pump and air stone. lots of ways to bump up the humidity some.
No I haven’t added anything to the water are they ok ?
They are a little young for adding any nutrients. My concern was how purple your stems are. Give @Caligurl a tag, and ask.
If you over watered then the last thing you want to do is dome them to trap the moisture in, keeping them wetter for longer. You want wet/dry cycles. Let the soil dry up, pick up the little starter pot and don’t add any more water til it feels very light, then water fully til a little water comes out the bottom, get rid of any runoff from the tray, don’t want them to sit in it and absorb more water, then let dry and repeat as needed.
What brand of potting soil are you using?
Check out the beginning of my journal where I cover taking care of seedlings.
@Caligurl Hey hope you can help my plants look ok ? Thanks
It might be the stain or young growing plants show purple from what I’ve read that’s for your help I’ll keep the cups on for now they are showing signs of being more upright so let’s see what tomorrow brings looked at your journal wow good growth you had day 5 I’m on day 10 so I guess I’ve made some mistakes along the way but hope to correct it’s a learning Lesson for sure thanks again I’ll see tomorrow and take it from there
