The set up… could help a beginner (I’ve researched for the past few days 8 hours a day)
advanced growers please give your thumbs up or down
2 x 2 x 2 m tent
600w omega digital light and ballast with metal halide bulb - (I got a spare HPS so I can use it for flowering, or if this one dies)
X 2 1200w LED lights (cheap as chips on ebay, 200 dollars for the pair, we’ll see if they’re better than one 200 dollar light)
6" rhino filter - 428 m3/hour
40 x magnifier (for those final days, god willing…)
X3 Heavy duty timers for lights
Digital laser thermometer
PH UP DOWN + ph meter
clay balls for topping the soil
Canna Terra Professional Soil Mix (medium)
Advanced nutes x3 bloom flower
thermo/hydrometers x 2 for that extra accuracy in the tent
Great White - Premium Mycorrhizae Strong Root Boost Protection
dehumidifier - (extremely important)
X 2 oscillating fans
and… of course seeds
Total about 800usd - not bad for a total set up, with the rhino keeping you safe, and the mixture of lights, i’m quite proud of this list - anyone care to add anything please go ahead - peace
High… It sounds like a pretty technical start… So is this your first time… I ask because I am a newbie myself and also learning… Hope it all works as good as it sounds… I will try to keep up with your progress and hopefully stat posting as well… Good luck…
Mr hippy
Its a hell of a lot cheaper and simpler if you just get basics or have a smaller tent, i just went as “all out” as i could to cover every angle - good luck to you to mrhippy
I’ll be curious how the LED’s are. You’re right, some really cheap ones on eBay. The ones I was just checking out are 1200W but the actual draw is only 130W peak. Kinda low. For example, my Viparspectra 900’s draw 418W actual. Just something to keep in mind. But, at that price you can buy a bunch if need be. You’re probably going to want 1500 - 2000 actual watts for that size space.
Are the LED’s filler for your MH/HPS light? In any case, nice job on getting started! You might consider a TDS meter. I need to order one myself.
Good luck! Can’t wait to see how it all works out for you.
Let me give u some info I just did the same thing purchased a tent bought 3 1000 dimmable ballasts.well I started in Aug from seed and just wacked down my first harvest it was decent.i learned some thing’s that will definitely not b done this harvest.i went balls out in my tent I stuffed it with 40 plants I learned quickly about problems with ur plants but if this ur first grow start slow 2 plants learn about them learn the basic training and pruning to increase ur yield at the endUploading…
Aha, now that’s the next question, 600w or 1000w HP’s.
LEDs are filler yeah, but I’ve heard good things, i may have to use a 1000w with the LEDs to be safe then? I mean I won’t have more than 10 plants max, probably 5
Nice info, perhaps not 40… but 4 is ideal, I’ve seen so many hours of pruning and encouraging growth I’m dying to get going. Did you mean 3 x 1000w HP’s? How big your space bro?
sounds sweet mate, u might want to look at an ec meter to test salt levels in nutes supply in conjunction with ph. My first was earlier this year i used LED i followed the feeding chart(rapid nutes) tried to maintain as level temp as i could, also water heater. I pretty much left them to thier own devices occasionally removing excess shade leaves, looking pests & got a reasonable result of just over a pound of some nice stuff. Oh also remember CO2 very important esp in veg state, plants absorb co2 during light cycle expel o2, then night cycle absorb o2 expel co2. This time i have a HPS(1k) for flower, but LED for veg hoping for bigger returns, also i use a light rail to move light to cover greatest area
1 pound?! How big a room dude? And what kit and seeds are you using? What a
beautiful yield.
Is an excellent meter like a parts per million for water/nutes solutions?
(Got one of them)
Now the co2 is all gravy baby, il be sitting in the room with the tent for
a couple/few hours per day reading or whatever to increase it (it’s amazing
how much co2 we produce)
Maybe even do weights and put my cycling machine in there… should kick up
the co2 production a bit!
I’m hoping to pay for my equipment and running costs first time round, if I
did that… I’d be chuffed. So about… 250-280g
You could just make a co2 generator using a 5gal bucket soda bottle and some plastic tubing use sugar water and yeast
Look up how on u tube
Super easy not going to produce tons but all helps and you could make more than one fairly cheap
mine is 1.9m3 tent that i used half of, 12 plants in 9lt buckets under a light rail running a 1200w led(pulling 545watts) sour diesal & blue dream yumm. I clipped all the ripe buds off then raised plants up to same heigh then let them continue to flower maybe another 3 weeks then ripped out completely.CO2 yeah all you want to do with sitting etc is great but i recommend pure source co2 supply u can buy from hydro shop in australia about $30 lasts bout 3 weeks(about time of veg cycle) cause dont really need extra CO2 during flower- siitting in room during flower would b enough. can make ure own co2 sugar…yeast & luke warm water but be careful it can froth up massively. i used a co2 gas bottle(home brewers use) with a regulator, but be very careful cause CO2 is a deadly silent killer, make sure u open room up wen ure in there
i used a 2lt coke bottle drilled a hole in lid put everything in there. Sitting at the other end of house heard an explosion, went to room covered in brown murky foam, funny now but not then hehe:joy:
I’ve heard its a bit of a waste of time, we produce lots of co2 which is good enough for me - just use a co2 meter and stay in your house all day, it’ll go up like mad.
Your correct about us generating lots of co2
I’m in the hvac business so I understand air quality lol
I figure my homemade set up it not going to hurt and will only help out so I use it . We are all just trying to get the same great results .
And I’m not home enough to do any good for my girls with co2 production so I figure why not And it’s not a huge expense so
