J's Hydro Grow For Potent Smoke

@Lightbrightt2010 @Growdoc @SausageMahoney @StonedCold13 @ScottsBuds @Low @dbrn32 @Graysin @Docnraq @Metalheadfred

Hey yall. Took a long break from growing. But now it’s time to get back to it! I tagged everyone i could remember who were vital support with my last grow. It’s good to be back among friends :slightly_smiling_face: anyway let’s get to it

A grow buddy created this cross of Bloom’s black maple 22 and pure melt’s strawberry meltshake. I dropped all 17 reg seeds and got 16 to pop! One popped so vigorously it lost its tail in the water. They all got transferred to 1.5" rockwool this morning that was pre soaked about 24 hours 5.5pH and about .4EC. Using Jack’s 3-2-1 nutrients. Eventually they’ll be upgraded to these 4"x4"x2.5" cultiwool brand blocks, I got a flat of 216 of them for about $130.

And here are some pictures of the strain creator’s phenos he found while hunting these seeds.

All but 2 have broke the surface. The remaining 2 are just barely visible about to pop through. Cubes are definitely lighter/dryer than initially. Have them under 8000lux of light. Thinking of giving them a 20% strength dunk in nutes once they’ve all sprouted from the medium.. thoughts?

No more then .2ec. They come online with enough nutes to get started so ph’d water for a day or two while they setup. Ive never started in rockwool so someone else might be better to listen too. Either way you wanna nail that ph 5.5-5.8. This part of the cycle makes me wanna start cloning every time.

I also have this Twenty20 Mendocino “So F’n Gassy” clone from a grow bro that I just hooked up the drip emitters for. Liking these emitters a lot so far, no fiddling with adjustable heads to get uniform pressure

Question- why would my drain to waste res’ pH rise from 5.6 to 6.5 in 24-48 hours? :thinking::thinking:

I use phosphoric acid (GH pH down) to adjust when adding fresh nutes but have double checked and two days in a row the pH of the water in the res needs to be adjusted back down before the auto water kicks on.
Which kind of defeats the purpose of auto watering if I have to manually adjust the pH.

I AM using tap water that is moderately soft (150ppm out the tap, pH of about 7.2-7.8 depending on the day) and Jack’s 3-2-1 nutrients mixed at 45% strength to yield a total E.C./ppms of 1.2/600

Getting warm on ya? :green_heart::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

@StonedCold13 temps are 68 at the moment. Stays 72 and below usually about 67-68 degrees. Think it might be the tap water? Im also not filling res up all the way, maybe only half the res at a time since it’s just the one plant on the drippers . More water = more stable?

Thats not abnormal. My rez does the same, it takes a couple days sometimes to settle in. Bounces from 5.8-6.5 in less then 24 hours.

Phewww, glad to hear it. I won’t sweat it then, just make some daily adjustments and continue to calibrate the pen regularly.

In other news, I culled 2 of the Strawmageddon seedlings already due to lack of vigor/ root development. They had weak stems, struggled to shed their seed hull, and barely rooted the plug. So 14 left. I got high hopes for something really good though! Let’s hope being picky doesn’t bite me in the ass :sweat_smile:

And this morning another one was lying sideways on its plug… bye bye :waving_hand: Down to 13 :sweat_smile: This one was also having a tough time with seed membrane, and I tried to carefully cut it so the cots would be exposed. Might have been what did it in. The rest are still looking happy and healthy so far. Probably be ready to feed by lunch time.

I’m also trying to keep an IPM cycle of spraying every 3 days. I noticed i think some thrip damage on the Gassy a while back. and thought my Captain Jack’s Deadbug had took care of it. But noticed some minor munch damage again at older leaves. My plan is rotate every 3 days like this:
1.) Captain Jack’s Deadbug
2.) Hypocholorous acid at 225ppm concentration
3.) Dr. Zyme’s
Wondering about beneficial predators too but never done that before, maybe only if theres a serious outbreak
