Journal 2: Upgraded Setup

Yeah I’m also in fabric.
I don’t know how Bruces mix is going to work with the added cal/mag it’s rare we see calcium and magnesium toxicity so I’m leaning towards that. Although it’s un tested with normal hydroponic nutrients /not using the 20-10-20.

I don’t want to say go with this and then you struggle all grow but seeing the downfall of coco is calcium issues I think it could be a very good idea.
To boot your not in autopots so the vermiculite is no issue.
For me in autopots vermiculite holds more mosture and that variable is actually the most worrying to me, although @Not2SureYet has grown with vermiculite in autopots while I’ve stuck to perlite we haven’t seen the growth the same yet. That is due to a couple variables, so again hard for me to say exactly.

If your down to experiment ash.
Get coco and get one bag of vermiculite and one bag of perlite. Go with Bruces recipe but do half with vermiculite and half with perlite.
Again BUFFED coco

Appreciate your feedback and opinion Nicky. I think I will try coco just to make things easier as im still new to this im worried id mess up the ratios of ingredients and what not.

Coco will be easier for me at this stage. Thanks again

Would be a great experiment, see which one works better.

Normally. I never see the need to prep my coco since it gets done as I feed. Looking at the couple grows I have in the auto pots. I am thinking it may be necessary. or at least a good thing to do in autopots since these don’t get top fed very long. I am still learning as I go here. To be honest. I never saw any real difference using perlite or vermiculite. I have use both for over a year each. Both do well. Perlite does float well  For me. I am finding both my Jacks and GH drink a lot more with a ph in the 5.6 - 5.8 range as to higher. I normally shot for a 5.8 - 6.1 like @Myfriendis410 It may have been the same top feeding. but now that I can measure. I can see how these drink each day
No matter how you go. You will like the difference coco makes :+1:

This has been my favorite of all I have tried. The price keeps going up unfortunately. I was paying 14 a block. but it is still worth it. @Myfriendis410 for the edit

Have you tried Canna coco bricks?

I only have one type of coco at my local hydro store that is pre washed and buffed.
Canna CoCo bricks are pre washed buffed and are quality but to me as long as its pre washed and buffed I don’t really care lol.
I may hunt around the garden centers a bit more this summer to see who has what but I do like supporting my local hydro store.

@Hellraiser , not yet. I have tried the natures above, Viagrow, grow-it and now am testing out this Enverlor.
For the price. It would have to produce more than double what I get from any I use. You are talking 44.00 vs 21 for the same amount. :grimacing: So far, I have not seen any thing you could say was wrong with any thing I have tried yet. The Natures followed by this Enverlor have looked the best hydrated. But they all have performed good. The canna might be better. For the cost. It probably will not find a way into my grows.

I agree canna is expensive. To me Im just lazy so anything buffed and pre washed, ide hate to do a bad buffing job and suffer issues.
A brick of natural stuff is 20$ Canadian while a bag of pre washed buffed stuff is 32$… Not worth my time and hassle to buy bricks lol.
Although if someone is selling canna bags on a good deal come spring planting season or fall ide pick em up if they were 35$ or less

I see how you could ADD key word add 650 ppm of specifically targeted nutes to a partial very rich in other nutrition for canibis media (ie vermiculite and peat )…my buddy showed direct analysis of a bunch of organic and mineral amendments (from azomite to granite… and lobster poop all the way to human hair (which is a 14 -0-0-0)[LoL]that would occupy the other 400 to 500 ppms in a mix… silica supplements are dense …like syrupy almost I dont remember what my ppms were on silica days and with dolomite there is ALOT of calcium I think molybdenum and sulfur as well so with all those breaking down that’s definitely feasible to be 650 if the media pics up where the food off…it seems the more immobile elements in the soil and mobiles are in the feed… pretty interesting… I’ve seen the recipues for commercial growers and there pretty simple I would love to know tmbehind the scenes of commercial nute running… jungle boys ran some real simple stuff and there crops are outstanding… I’m hoping to learn this this run because I went from 8 bottles of same manufacture and down to 5 select products that pretty much hit all the bells

I’m not seeing that kind of price difference on my amazon

I see the 11 lb block of Nature’s premium for $21 and the Canna coco bricks are 8 lbs for $24. Canna is more expensive but not twice as much, more like 58% more expensive. LOL, sorry, I’m a numbers guy.

Okay that made me laugh!

You didn’t say ‘approximately’ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I was looking at this. It would only be 1.4 cubic feet vs 2.4 for the natures. So a little less than double. It would be worth trying since I re use mine a few times before it gets tossed. it seems better the second time around :slightly_smiling_face: I used to be a numbers dude. When my brain worked a little better. now close is where I fall at

Its been 8 weeks since I flipped to flowering. Bud started getting heavy and branches are breaking. I don’t want to bother with a trellis net or tying them up as I have to move them to water them for this grow so I decided I’ll put them in darkness for 48 hours after lights go off in 9.5 hrs. @Myfriendis410 @Not2SureYet @Nicky @Hellraiser @Jackie_Daytona

Here’s a final look at them:

With the issues you had I would suggest a thorough wet trim to remove all of the really dark green leaf matter. Just a thought…
