Over the past couple of weeks I’ve noticed my container of Jack’s Tap seemed to be absorbing moisture. However, this didn’t make since the humidity has been low between 40 - 50%. Additionally, this was happening while the container was covered and closed. Yesterday I left the container opened thinking it would dry out. I was very much mistaken.
The original bag and remaining product in it is perfectly fine. It is dry and granular as it was when I first opened it.
I wonder why this happened to the amount I put into a small plastic container that I open and use every or every other day.
Yes, I personally used mine for the outdoor garden and was only opening once every 7-10 days. I didn’t understand. Thought it was something I did. Thank you for sharing your experience.
It must have something to do with being exposed to the air. It is funny that it doesn’t happen (or has not) to Jack’s two part A & B. I also have them in containers for easy access.
I guess I will put a smaller amount of TAP in the container (maybe inside a plastic bag) and see what happens.
I’ve never had an issue with Jacks, but I did leave a container of epsom exposed to the air for a couple of months. It soaked up the humidity and turned into a brick.
I have not have a problem with regular Jack’s parts A & B it is just the TAP product. I also have Jack’s Finish 7-15-30 in a small separate container. It is the same as when I put it in there.
I know my bag of Part B is definitely much more wet than my Part A - I bet the calcium nitrate in Tap and Clone, being built into a single-part formula, is the culprit for absorbing the moisture as much as it does.
I have been using my wet-ish Part B for almost a year now, no adverse effects. I just have to check my PPMs with a meter when I use it, because its weight isn’t accurate anymore.
My Tap did the same thing. I also left it open in the basement where it is dryer, thinking it would dry out. Nope. Currently using their bloom but will use the rest of my tap and adjust. Still sucks.
How do you know if you’re getting the correct amount of each ingredient? Mine isn’t completely liquified. I’m still struggling with nutrients somewhat, when all is well with them. What about in this state?
Honestly I used a scoop from the beginning and got used to how many scoops weighed a certain amount. So when the bag got weird, it didn’t cause me any real issue.
For now, I’d suggest dissolving your affected nutrient in some RO or distilled water by itself. Jacks has target PPMs for each part - just add that part to a gallon of water a gram at a time til you hit their target PPM for that nutrient. Write it down and try again and see if it holds true q second time. Then you can assume that it might actually take 3 grams of part B to hit the right target PPMs instead of 2.4.
