Anyone else had this issue with Jack's

Every time I mix up my Jack’s nutrients when I add the B part it doesn’t seem to mix in all the way. So I wait a whole day and shake it up a bunch of times and sometimes the flakes disappear and most of the time they don’t. Is it a bad batch or is it normal?

Are you adding micro-nutrients like sicilica and cal-mag? I find if i add those before mixing the nutrients with water it will cause this happen

I’m mainly using Masterblend 3-Part dry nutrients, but I have had a similar thing happen. Now I try to use warm water to mix in, either from the tap or I put my 100 foot hose out in the yard to warm it up, and then I use this to make a concentrate. Try putting the Jacks in it with a little warm water to dissolve and then add it to the large volume of water to finish mixing. Hope this might help.

I drop A, silica, pH up and epsom all at once. Mix it with the magnetic mixer. Drop in B, wait one minute, mix one minute. I get steady 1450-1600 / 5.8-5.9

And this too.

@Low

Didn’t you have a constant fit about this also

Jacks mixes? Oh man where do I start.

Replaced each component individually, then all at once. Before I found a combo that worked and stayed clear.

I dissolve each part in RO over night in small buckets, a small pump is used for part a

Then I have to filter part a before using in final mix because there is always sediment on bottom no matter what

Epsom water mix has to be added first
Part a water mix second
Then B water mix

I mix between additions vigorously with a paint mixer and a drill.

Prior to this I had reactions no matter what. Different ratios, mix orders, starting water, starting water pH, starting water temp. None of that mattered. I can’t guarantee hazy look is a bad reaction but I aim for clarity or dump.

Lots of back forths with jacks and they just wanted to keep replacing parts rather than find a solution.

I dealt with this for a LONG time

Hero I kept hearing was that Jax was such a better way of going than using Fox farms I was super happy with it until this started happening. And yes I do mix 1 teaspoon of silica in with my RO water the day before I mix the Jacks in. I guess it is what it is and I’ll just have to deal with it. Cuz I’m not jumping through hoops trying to get it to mix in. I thought maybe I just had a bad batch of B.

Yes I do mix silica in the day before. Maybe I will just do the silica every other watering.

Silica used to work for me, then all of a sudden it doesn’t. Silica is over hyped. Unless you have a bad environment I wouldn’t bother with it. There’s no difference in bud production. Just helps with environmental stressors.

I know it helps with a stiffer/stronger main stalk. But beyond that didn’t know what it did. I will stop using it for the rest of the grow. Thanks brother

Yes it stiffens up cell walls. Basically- a tougher skin that makes it difficult for mold and bugs to penetrate.

+1 for this.

I mix mine in a 8 gallon rez with a wave maker. Silica, part a & Epsom, part b. No issues so far, after six grows.

My order matches yours. Zero issues in 5 years :sign_of_the_horns:

I’ve only used the silica on my biweekly runoff waterings last 2 runs

I can mix normally in 5 gallon buckets, when it’s a 55 gal res the small frictions between the parts are amplified and it’s a process to get a crystal clear nutrient solution, that holds 3-5 days or more.

I’m using a 30 gallon trash bin

And it stays clear?

If so you are lucky lol I’ve dumped thousands of gallons, and tried every which way to keep it clear.

Not sure why I never heard of anyone having any issues with Jack’s A&B until I had issues with it. Wish I would have seen this earlier I probably would have went with something else. At this point I am just feeding my plants with the little white flakes floating around in the water. Plant seems to like it anyway so I’ll keep doing it.
