Jacks nutrients

If you water 4 times a week every other day. Do you use the jacks 321 every watering?

@Covertgrower That was my question too re journals. Does each person have to tag you in order to read theirs? This may be stupid but how do you tag someone?

@Covertgrower I know I’m late to this post but that pic up there is only a 4x4 tent? I thought it was more like a small room! Lol I need to get to the eye doctor

You tagged me correctly @Mhcnola, sorry I’m a little late.
I feed every time I water. It’s important to water to run off, to reduce salt build up. Jacks recipe is low dose enough it doesn’t hurt to feed every time. Some plants that are picky, may require a few water only cycles, but for the most part everything grows well with being fed every time.

I’m traveling to Michigan next weekend, and there’s a hydro store that has good prices on the 25lb bags of Jack’s Part A and B. They don’t stock the smaller sizes. The two bags together are about $100, which isn’t a huge amount of money, but at 3g/gal that’s something like 3200 gallons - in my 35gal rdwc system, that’d be enough for ~90 rez changes. Or, put another way, about 5 years worth.

Does anyone want to find a way to split/share?

Very curious to know if you could break this down step by step. I’m an old school Fox Farm grower, then to Botanicare and now advanced nutrients. It’s time to move on.

I run in 5 gallon pots and promix. Can you please tell me EXACTLY what I need to purchase from start to finish and how to mix. Also do I need to be using another medium to grow in. Please help

Don’t want to hijack this thread, but it’s about something I have questions about. I want to switch to Jack’s when I use up all my GH stuff. Got on the website and was like wtf? Everyone says a+b plus Epsom salt. They had all kinds of stuff on there. What do I need to buy from them?

Just A and B, you can grab Epsom Salt at local pharmacy shops. They do have a tap water mix, but that’s up to you.

Thanks. So the other stuff is optional I guess. I’d like to keep using some stuff I have on hand, Big Bud for example. I’m sure that’ll work well as long as I keep the NPK right.

It should. The beauty of Jack’s 321 is it’s just part A part B and Epsom salt. It’s so simple. I use the same dosing for indoor, out door and different sizes. This plant, circled, is on the exact same as the others.

I just tossed her in the flower tent today.

@Theegreatness
So part A is the Jack’s Hydroponics(5-12-26)
Part B is the Calcium Nitrate bag(15-0-0)
And any bag of Epsom salt works for the third part. (Unscented)

Per gallon a mixture is
3.6g of Part A
2.4g of Part B
1.2g of Epsom salt

You have to mix them in order of operations so you take your bucket of water and put in the part A and the Epsom salt then stir til completely dissolved. Once that’s completely dissolved you add in the Part B, stir til dissolved…then ph to 6.0 in hydro/promix/coco or 6.5 in soil.

Same thing every time from seed to harvest. No water breaks, no flushing, just feed to runoff.

What do you mean by no water breaks? So promix would be 6.0 or 6.5?

You would go 6.0ish. I go 5.8 for Coco.

He said no water breaks in the post at bottom. What does that mean?

Means that you water with nutrients every watering. You water until about 20% of the in medium water drips out. So if you have 1 gallon of mixed nutrients, and say 12oz of water down in the medium (best guess), you water until 20% of the 12oz drips out. Of course you can go more or less. You will get a feel for things soon enough.

I just watch the plant and water until I get a decent drip. I also watch the leaf tips. When they start to show I’m on the line, I back ppm down by 100 to 200ppm.

When I see this, that’s when I back it down a bit. Here I stepped over the line ever so slightly. I backed down by 200ppm.

Even in soil or just coco feed every time to run off

No water breaks I assume means no flushing with just water which is required every 3 or so waterings with regular nutrients

@Theegreatness Yes, just feed every time. When you water to 20% run off this helps wash away the buildup of salts in your medium. So in a way it’s a gentle flush. while maintaining nutrient levels because you feed every time.
