Hey @dbrn32 @Not2SureYet i didn’t want to make a whole new thread for this so I just popped in here
I haven’t been on in a while. I have a sour crack (mephisto) that’s putting off weird damage on leaves and I can’t figure it out. The others I have going are fine.
She’s in 3gal fabric, reused coco/perlite, feeding jacks 321 with a cup of recharge about every 10 days (I try for once a week but sometimes I forget), under a viparspectra p2500.
She’s on day 59 (day 39 since first white hairs) and didn’t start showing this til about 4 days ago. I started lowering nutes, thinking I had some sort of lockout, but it hasn’t helped. And I’ve checked for bugs, none. I was watering (w nutes) twice a day. I’ve gone back to once a day. She’s drinking 8-10cups/day. I got the runoff ppm down to 580ish, the highest was 1000 (running reg strength jacks w my tap).
I was hoping one of you could help me out. Maybe you’ve seen this before?
Both of these are pretty low. But yours looks more like a genetic anomaly than a deficiency. Like an odd type of variegation. But variegation usually starts early on
This didn’t start til day 50-52 from seed ![]()
maybe I should start feeding more instead of less? Feeding less didn’t help
It came on so fast! The only thing that looks close is -boron deficiency- what do you think?
@BobbyDigital Another thing that may be worth mentioning is that I pollinated her a couple weeks ago! (Used sts to reverse a blackstrap auto clone) Her white hairs just look scraggly where I pollinated
instead of turning brown like the others. Then a week and a half later, it started this up top. It may not have a thing to do with it, but I’m racking my brain trying to figure this out. Others have been pollinated too though. Nothing has been done differently with this one. Genetics must be sensitive to something… just don’t know what.
I only pollinated some of her bottommost branches tho. I’m just stumped ![]()
Remind me what you’re final ppm of solution with tap is once it’s ph is set?
I’m thinking this is pretty low too, and only giving 8-10 cups doesn’t sound like a lot for 1 feeding per day. I’m thinking I would try feeding them to heavy runoff personally.
It’s around 950 to 1000. My ph down doesn’t effect the ppm. My tap starts at 125-130ppm. I started raising the ppm today. When I gave 11 cups this morning, I got back 2.5. Not enough?
I would go a little heavier. I typically feed about a gallon per 3 gallon pot.
No matter how many times a day I water her, it still equals the same amount - she actually drinks around 8-10 cups. So the other 6-8 cups would be just runoff?
Yes, but helping to rinse your pots and replace solution at intended concentration.
It never makes sense to me bc when I try to feed multiple times a day, the ppm go way up even tho it’s being rinsed more and not allowed to build up as much. ![]()
Not if you’re just feeding to small amount of runoff. You’re basically doing same thing you were just more frequently.
So if I have to go to twice a day… do I change ppm or run off amount? Once a day, say 12 in/4 out… would that translate to twice a day being 6in/2 out (twice)?
I suppose there could be situations where you would do a lot of different things. Why do you have to feed multiple times a day? Just because you can do something doesn’t always mean you need to or should. If you’re going to feed multiple times a day I would still do so to runoff. If you feel normal strength nutrients is too much there, then adjust it down. But that’s not necessarily something I would say is normal. Dwc system has roots sitting in solution 24/7 and you don’t make a drastic reduction in ppm for that.
I was only wondering bc I have some in 1 gal pots and noticed that when I watered twice a day, the ppm would rise a lot more. Like it didn’t have enough time to go thru the nutes that were in there. But the coco would be pretty dry.
And I was also wondering bc you said I wasn’t giving enough. Now I realize you meant at one time lol
But for the 1 gal pots, they’re almost always pretty dried out 8-10 hours after their first water. So I’ve had to start watering twice. 600-700 seems too much for those. 400-500 may be their sweet spot. Just curious.
Yes, exactly.
If you think you have them dialed in, then carry on with what you have working. My full strength jacks in ro or distilled measures out to about 950ppm give or take. Not sure if we’re measuring on different scale or something else going on? But I feed this daily and don’t really see any issues unless I miss a feeding or two.
Maybe bc I’ve been just doing 3,2,1 bc it’s easier lol but I think that’s only 80% strength? Correct me if I’m wrong. I may have to go back to 3.6, 2.4, 1.2. So you change your ratio for flower? Or stay the same? I’ve noticed when they stretch they take more nutrients. For about 3-4 weeks. Pretty cool seeing them change their ways.
I appreciate your help btw
This is standard formula, method you’re using seems to be about 80%.
I don’t change ratio at all. I do add another product I’m working on around week 3, but that would be after transition.
