Interesting. I’ll check them out after work
I started with a viparspectra tc1350 for my for my first light and that barely met specs needed for a 5x5 in flower but worked for veg specs. I thought I had decent nugs but none were dense or super fat.later I upgraded to the 2 marshydro ts 3000w and a bigger tent for flower 8x4 hopeful that i would get nice fat long nugs but once again this light failed to give me full coverage and my middle of the tent was left in the dark zone with little light coverage (nugs were good sized but not monsters) so once again I got new light now these bad boys were top of the line at my grow shop and I spent a good chunk of change between the2 lights and master controller ($2500) growers choice roi e720 and got a lux meter and started testing my new lights and old lights after situating my 2 old marshydros in the veg tent 5x5 I did a test with one on 80% or so and it was only reading 300 umols about 16 inches from lights no wonder my last grows were so airy. Light penetration was my biggest enemy when buying cheap lights not that it doesn’t work but you won’t get massive dense nugs. Now I know all of that isn’t to blame on the lights as I’ve learned more as I’ve went along this journey but long story short I don’t see you getting light penetration to the smaller nugs that aren’t too colas so you may end up with popcorn nugs. Since I’ve upgraded to this last set of lights I have all big nugs and no popcorn nugs and can focus more on training methods to maximize my yields
I jusr defoliated a little more and checked DLI and PPFD
When I check the PPFD at the lower part of the canopy I was at 32 DLI. The very very bottom is dark yeah but this baby is short tbh
Going this weekend to get some LST stuff but I think I may have something at work to use.
I just got my lady some bonsai wire for her trainer plant to learn how to grow and train. then I favor these
My 2 cents been reading along and will be very interested to see what your results are using those lights, best of luck to you. My thing on lights are maybe those will work and do a great job, hopefully they do, but when you buy HLG or other name brands your also paying for efficiency. Forget of many hrs my HLG light is rated for, a lot, also not as hot as other cheaper lights used in past. Light not as hot less fans or other equipment to use to mange temp. Efficiency is the word, best of luck will be watching
These are rated for 3.8 years based on 18 hours a day use. They’re not the best but but I think GE sells so many they can manufacture ok bulbs pretty cheap and source the parts from a company that wants steady work or just make them in house. I’m looking at that black bird or scorpion for around tax time. ![]()
She’s doing OK this morning andI have a Purple Punch planted this morning behind her at 320 PPFD
Now do see why I’m convinced enough to be a “cheerleader” I didn’t expect anything besides the opinions I asked for. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with you…
I am happy you are happy.
Ditto.
You have done a great job with those lights.![]()
I use those lst clips there great
As long you grow enough to never have to buy it then that’s all that really matters.
But to put it into perspective, you have a long way to go to get to 75% of my usual 3x3 tent harvest yield (not sure on your tent size). My last harvest was just over 17 oz (with lanky sativas) and I’ve pulled up to 30 oz from 4 plants in a 3x3.
Great lights matter! LOL
Don’t disagree at all with what you do, just depends on your own personal needs and wants. Yours differ from mine as well as the poster here might have even different needs.
I’ve got dozens of seeds and will probably only smoke an ounce every 6 months regardless… And most importantly, “l Love Growing Marijuana” as much as anything… just doing as this website’s name implies. No worries. To each his own
Was just at NeCann, saw all the protesting-growers chanting & wearing those tee shirts and waving flags between Fluence and the Nectar of the Gods booth.
Don’t use 24hr of light, max 20/4 they need a nap. Even if they are autos or they will be more likey to run into stress and deficiencys.
Glad to see you found the right app, make. Sure your using sunlight mode and not full spectrum led.
Why not full spectrum led ?
I recently switched to 20 hour . Thanks
hellraiser and one of the mods tested the settings against the apogee meter and the sunlight setting, as backwards as it sounds, was more accurate than full spectrum led.
i’m one of the suckers who had to purchase the led setting only to find out i should have purchased sunlight instead. i’m still using the full spectrum setting fwiw. figure it gets me close enough or govt work
I’ve been using the full spectrum LED setting on my new phone - an iphone 13 pro as the sunlight setting was not free anymore (used to be) and it is pretty close to the Apogee, I’ll have to test both the sunlight and full spectrum LED settings again against the Apogee quantum sensor and see which is closer on my new phone, will do so soon.
I’m using the sunlight setting and I didn’t pay anything. There’s a beta version out
