Is red panama the same as the old time panama red?

I was watching a weed vid the other day and someone briefly mentioned a strain called ‘Red Panama’. now back in the day we had (there was even a song about it I believe) a strain that knocking us all for a loop called ‘Panama Red’, could this possibly be the same or at least similar genetics? If so I want some right now! lol it would be a real treat to have some, or even some of the old Acapulco Gold would be grand. anyhow just wondering if anybody knew for sure.

We cannot know for sure but google landrace strains from the ol days. I found some ol skool Acapulco. Just harvested 8 zips. Really good grow for me.

Nice grow @Bonjoyle. One of the few benefits to being old is haveing memorys of smoking most of the OLD shit people too young to have had a chance to enjoy ie: Panama Red, Colunbian Red and Gold, old Jamacia buds and so forth. I get to smile and say ive smoked that! To answer OP ? No not the same simple genetic variation over time would prevent that i believe

I have heard for years how todays bud is so much stronger than back in my day…im not so sure. I remember 5 people on a joint of Colombian gold and we partyed for hours befor even wanting any more. “Stupid stoned” we called it.

I remember that exact feeling. But on the flip side of that, I have now been smoking daily for 45 years. Maybe the buildup of cannabinoids in our old ass systems is the reason for not feeling that everytime we smoke.
Quik Story, found a doob in the threshold at one of my dads buddies on the way out the door. I was 14. Did not know what it was but I knew the dude always had some fire. I got on my 10 speed and sparked it up. Bout half way thru had to get off the bike and walk it as I was so stoned I could not keep my balance. Never been that stoned before or since.

My buddies and I knew nothing of strains back in the 70s and instead referred to them as redbud, Columbian, Mexican, Thai stick, Sinsemilla, and so on.

Had some original Thai stick back in the early 70’s from some marines that i met brought it back in thier kit from Nam.

I’m a little surprised at the amount of people that I know that still think Thai stick and Sinsemilla are actually weed strains. Sinsemilla simply means “without seeds” and Thai stick is a process of making a paperless joint out of buds and resin. I’ll admit I didn’t realize Sinsemilla had nothing to do with a strain until the 80s

Yep. Now it’s all Sinsemilla.

I didn’t smoke from 1981 until ~2017 because of the career I had chosen, so I had never thought about it and didn’t learn until about 6 years ago. I took a hit here and there when I was around it and that was it. Never more than a handful of times over those years.

The last time I smoked was about 1986 and I’ve never smoked since.

Seeking Strawberry Cough pollen… anyone run into any males? Not a freaking hermi…

I think its a THC race leaving out the good terpenes. So much crossbreeding is actually rendering the plants terpene profiles moot. All THC isnt what I actually seek. Some lower thc grows with closer landrace traits i grow will flat knock you down for hours.
