Hi everyone, very new to the game but completely in love. Making things grow is so fun. I have 2 x3 tent and a light hung at the top of the tent. My new leaves have a yellow hue and I think the tent is too hot even with a fan. Suggestions welcome
Yes 92 F is too hot. Do you have a fan that pulls air into the tent and out the top?
No just a clip fan that s on 24-7 blowing on the plant.
Need an exhaust fan to pull the hot air from the top. You can find used ones on eebay for pretty cheap. Amazon, of course, or direct. AcInfinity, Mars Hydro, Vivosun. Those are in order from best to not best. A 4" exhaust system should do fine in a 2x3. You can get them with a carbon filter. You will eventually need the filter for smells.
Yo welcome to the forum. There will be fun and frustration. Eventually, the fun will significantly outweigh the frustration.,
When does that occur?
Just asking for my friend.
Yes to AC-Infinity
Find a discount code or call them.
My tent occupants look similar.
I keep temps below 86F.
If your hand (backside, not palm) is exposed to the light at crown level, is it cool, warm, hot or burn in a minute?
You have AC-Infinity auto/drip/pans with plastic looking containers.
Bags work with the auto wicking capability.
Plastic (with hole) will only drip or overflow to drip pan feature.
FYI, I use one and daily rotate plants to the “onboard” position and let them wick for a day. Previous experience taught me reservoir needs regular cleaning.
Goals!!!
Heat might be a contributor but the yellow edges are from overwatering. The prong meters are not great for this hobby.
Interesting- never used one prior to this application but I was thinking the same thing. Then was thinking maybe it’s just superficial wet on top and below is dry.
Thank you- any advice for measuring the moisture?
The advantage of 5-gal or smaller, allows “LIFT” method for determining fully Wet/Dry. Learn to lift fully wet and learn to recognize dry (either by lifting or by looking for leaf droop.
Leaf droop, needs water to remedy.
Can’t lift this lady, anymore.
These clones, floated away ((one died) due to rains, daily, for last week.
Rain water filled to dirt depth.
Too wet and too heavy to lift.
Hernia repair does not tolerate lifting ten-gal wet soil, very well.
Agree with Triple D. I lift my pots or tilt when using 10 gallon pots. After many grows, you will know when to water. The droop is the most obvious visual sign. If you know you are on the 2nd or 3rd day after watering and she is droopy after lights on for an hour or 2 then time to water.
You guys are great - thank you so much for the advice. My exhaust fan/filter will be here tomorrow. I also have the 5 gallon fabric bags so I will switch them out so they can wick and switch. I’ll keep posting once I get my new setup situated. Can’t wait to see how it goes. Thanks again- I appreciate it.
Recent soil mixing has shown me I have been under utilizing perlite.
I will mix 30-40%, by volume, not “looks”.
good growing to you
What is temp and humidity outside of tent? With temp that high and fan blowing on plant, im surprised it doesn’t crumble
I got my set up today and it’s so freaking hot this week keeping anything cool is going to be difficult. I just stuck the exhaust fan in the top for now and I will properly install everything in the next few days. They are still growing so this is my learning curve.
When did you have the repair
Mine was tuesday 8/20/24.
Double bilateral they did both sides. I am not even suppose to pour my own glass of milk.
Hey, Growmie! I use those self watering bases aswell, but i dont know how well they will work with your plastic pots. The fabric pots work with the base by keeping the bottom 1/3rd of soil damp.
Here are mine at 4 weeks of flower with the self watering bases and 5 gallon fabric pots. I am using the fox farm trio aswell for nutrients!
