I live in Michigan and it’s July 2nd! I started a few seeds and planted them outdoors about 4 weeks ago! The plants are not as bushy as id like and are at least 4ft tall already! Can i still top them? And does it matter at what node i top her?
She’s pretty big. At this point instead of topping Id plant a few stakes and spread all the branches away from the main.
I did this with a critical Kush last grow. She was three weeks in flower and I crushed all branches outward. She recovered well and produced the most out of 11 plants.
Definitely not too late to top. I prefer to be done topping 3-4 weeks before they flip to flower to allow the smaller branches to grow some before the stretch.
@greenmonster714 has good advice as well if you wanted to continue low stress training without topping. Really comes down to preference and how you want to shape your plant. Good luck with your decision growmie!
I will also add that if you want to limit her height some topping will be the way to go as it will promote bushier growth. If you dont care how tall she gets i would just go ahead with the lst, less stress on the plant.
I think I’m gonna top them at this point they are already over 4ft high and with 3-4 weeks of veg left outdoors they could reach 7-8ft and i find that hard to manage with my outdoor grow! I was also curious if i could top because I’ve everything I’ve read says to top between the 4 and 6 nodes! Can i top at any node since she’s big and healthy?
The 4-6 node recommendation is for small young plants. You are not limited to just doing that. Also, in the future if you post a couple pics of the plant it helps us out to give better advice.
Lol i was confused l@@king at the 2nd picture thinking topping “THAT!!!” HUM WHY, then read the request to include pics …i was thinking did i miss a class on topping or training AFTER plants l@@k like 2n pic THEIR BEAUTIES! I CAN JUST SMELL EM @greenmonster714 VERY NICE
Id just bend them over and tie in place. I would keep them growing horizontal until they started flowering then I’d bend over any branches that got to tall
