All three of my plants who have been outside since mothers day are over 5 feet tall and even though they have dealt with bugs they are strong and just chugging. Seems like when I have a plant indoors that gets pests it really struggles.
Maybe indoor conditions to wet
Let’s fix this, honestly I probably won’t be able to but there is enough growers in ever condition imaginable here
Got any pics of your grows
Its simply in a spider farmer tent.
I had thrips recently but inside vs outside its like night and day.
Maybe its the elements outside along with predator bugs naturally outside as well?
Good thinking and very well could be
Mother nature always provides best. Indoor growing we are trying to replicate Mother Nature, but perfecting it will never happen.
Mother nature can be harsh branches get broken plants can be uprooted with strong winds and bugs can ruin an entire crop. High humidity late in flower can cause mold and bud rot. So why do I grow outside you ask. I believe they are stronger, healthier and more resilient under natural sunlight. The natural predatory insects and beneficial nematodes also contribute to the plants health.
@plumbdand is 100% right in this. When growing outdoors you can really see how Mother Nature works with the plant. Providing beneficial friends to help fight off any unwonted pests. It’s quite amazing how everything can work together as one.
Also when growing indoors you are confined to a smaller inclosed space. You will notice every little thing that moves. And the cannabis plants are the only thing for those nasty bugs have to munch on. So they will definitely harbor in your plants or soil.
I also feel that the spectrum and light waves of the sun created a much healthier/striving plant overall. This making it much harder for bugs to truly affect the harvest.
Put a humming bird feeder near your plants
Here in Illinois I can have 5 plants, but only 1 of these outdoor plants would fit in my grow room. I figure even with some loss due to insects or mold, they get so huge outside that I still get way more volume and vigor. Also far less overhead cost outside. I’ve had 3 good back yard crops here, each better than the last.
Love the hummingbird feeder idea!
I suppose it mat have a lot to do with location. I grew outside for years… battle after battle. Indoors I went coco in part because I know soil harbors pest. Silica and fans are important.
Outdoors for me is a lot easier and the yield is way better. I see people put 4 plants in a 2x4 tent. I barely fit 4 plants in a 10x12ft greenhouse and every year I end up telling myself that, that was too many. 3 would probably be better.
Nice to hear that! Outdoor plants tend to be more resilient, maybe due to better air circulation and natural predators for those bugs. Indoors can be a different story, but you can try to replicate some of those outdoor conditions, like increasing air flow and using neem oil to prevent pests.
Anything that stresses us and does not kill us makes us stronger. Pretty much true for all living things.
Ahaha I love when people bring this up. ‘What doesn’t kill ya makes us stronger’
One of my best friends is an ER doc. We talked about this a few times. He said he was seen thousands of people come into the hospital with broken limbs, infected lungs etc. everything you could imagine.
Not all those people end up living stronger and healthier lives. Sometimes you can feel the repercussions your entire life.
A few years ago we experienced a nasty lockout/freeze with half our garden. That half never produced the quality or overall lbs that the others did.
But, being outdoors, we always have to take into account, that some fatalities happen. At least feminized seeds are here, no more wondering if it is a male of female.
Not true anymore in my thinking, all plants I started from seed and put in dirt this yr where " Photo fem seeds" one turned out to be a auto Sexxpot and out of 4 Blue Cheese seeds one was a full out male. I blame QC and maybe mix up at packaging or maybe a spill somewhere down the process this was out of 28 plants I seeded and spread between family and friends, auto was a oh I got smoke early, the male was WTF glad I caught it when went to daughters house and just decided to check her plants and see how they where doing.
Good catch on that male. I don’t trust any seeds I get from any breeder these days until they show me that they’re female. @Bentstick The family that grows together stays together.
Mother nature does best! I remember gorilla growing back in the day. Drop a plant in the ground in a corn field in June and never set eyes on it again until the beginning of October and we would get some monsters!
Well if you are going to bring up specific things like humans and medical issues, I would agree. More of a basic comment really. I will refrain from using goofy cliches here brother. Point made.
No no not at all man. I just thought it was kinda funny. Speak your mind my friend
