look at your trichomes with 60x loupes

Thanks. Have looked but I have a helluva time with it. Just thought some pros could give a general consensus. Lol. They smell soooooo good I’m getting impatient. Lol

Need one picture as close as you can get and stay focused. I read a lot of threads so tag me with @skgrower

The Ladies look really healthy. The buds for sure can go longer. Suggest you think in terms of making it a XMas harvest. OF COURSE…you should take a few really mature buds to do a taste test. Much like the wine n whiskey makers take a sample to gauge progress.
Yeah and get a jewelers loop to check the trichomes. Trichomes decide when it’s time.

Are these close enough? @OldSkunk

they look wonderful. can you see the trichomes? i would suggest you examine your trichomes to be sure about harvest time. if your dont have a 60x magnifying loupe then maybe go ahead and harvest because according to pistils its done

Yeah, sorry OP but its hard for us to accurately tell amber count without being there and usinf a loupe ourselves. I understand you said you tried bur have trouble telling yourself

I do too, my loupe is only 40x pretty sure. I have to hold ths bud still in one hand and get my loupe and my face distance from loupe just right, then i can tell ambers accurately.

Rule of thumb is when the majority of your pistils retract and get red or brown like that youre in your last two weeks or so, time to start checking trichomes. If you cant tell your trichomes it would be safe to harvest 10-15 days after the pistils tell you, that would be safe im sure. Not as ideal as upgrading your loupe perhaps (i have one of the 120x pocket microscopes and dont like it for trichome inspection, wouldnt recommend that route either)

Gorgeous Autumn colors going on, i love it!

I will say that when mine are ready their yellowing (some say thats senescense?) Is not as advanced as yours, so me personally, id have zero issue moving one into 24hrs dark and then chopping it. Or if u want to wait a little bit, split or drill the stem now and harvest in a week.

Disclaimer : im pretty new tho, so…

They’re very milky, so you’ll get a more “busy” high if you take them now from what I see. I usually take at least one Trainwreck plant like that per grow. It’s a great buzz and I stay active.

The test

UPDATE…
We harvested last night. …
Any tips on how long to dry and/ or curing?
I am so impressed. I can’t believe what we got!!

Good job, and congratulations! You can hang them to dry between 7 and 10 days. Then the stems should snap without breaking and they can be put into jars for curing.

The cure can take anywhere from a week to months. You need to burp your jars daily to exchange some fresh air in the jars. Do that for the first two weeks. Then one a week, then one a month.
