Your intake air is nice and chilly.
Putting the exhaust fan to the wall is a good start.
8" of intake area is probably still not enough to be unrestrictive to the exhaust fan, at least if the exhaust fan has no other restrictions.
A good ‘square one’ would be to bench-flow the exhaust fan at 100% power & zero, 25%, 50%, & 75% restriction on the intake port & mark out a flow gauge. Then remove the restictions, attach the carbon filter, & see where you end up on your flow gauge to see how much if any flow the carbon filter is stealing, percentage-wise.
An 8" exhaust fan might not be enough to clear 8x10x8(?), even with zero restrictions on the fan & nice chilly intake air, but won’t hurt to try maximizing its efficency, & then if is’s not enough you can add another exhaust fan in parallel or just step up to a more powerful fan.

I’d avoid putting any positive pressure on the grow space.
Air out is air in, as far as the exhaust fan is concerned. So if you can get it to flow enough out, it will be coming in through the passive intake(s).
Anyone will need some more info on your setup to help. Where do the intake & exhaust ports go? Big empty vented spaces, or more ducting/restrictions?

I’d just be concerned with the exhaust pulling air from any or face that allows air in, under any door not just the outside air.
I’d still suggest putting the exhaust fan to pull directly from the cooler outside air given the temperature issue. That would ensure your getting the most cooler air into your space.
Not sure how positive pressure on the space would compromise the grow.

It is a good idea to try to eliminate air leaks other than the intake & exhaust ports, but…

…consider the inverse of your first concern, positive pressure into the grow space runs the risk of blowing stanky air beyond the grow space, but not through the carbon filter.

Either way, push or pull, you still have to provide enough flow area to get the most out of the fan. Bigger exhaust area then, plus any carbon filters that would still need to be minimally restrictive yet still effective, if you want to push from the intake side & out a passive exhaust. Either way the concern of air leaks is valid & sealing off air leaks aside from the intake & exhaust ports is still a good idea.

As it stands it’s still unclear as to what is on either side of OPs intake & exhaust ports, could be other restrictions going on there too.
