Indoor no-till experiment: the permajournal

in previous discussions regarding that, i have heard some people take the buds which have too much amber trichs on them off the plant ( snip them and dry them) and continue on with the rest of the plant. i, myself don’t believe in doing this. i think it is better to have some buds that are 10 to 20% amber before i chop the whole thing. you are always going to have a variety of buds at different maturity anyways. that is why some don’t chop until some of the buds are 50% amber. that way they know that all the rest of the buds will not have much clear on them.

my experience of going 2 to 3 weeks past “alleged” flower time has shown me that you will always have some clear trichs on stuff that is still filling out. i hope this makes sense to you, i am starting to get confused myself, but just burned a fat cherry pie lol

have a good rest and night bud, and don’t let a few ambers sway your resolve… at least 2 weeks and you probably won’t hurt going to your end of jan chop

i wouldn’t doubt that you double the size of your buds in the next two or three weeks

i don’t even start looking at trichomes now until the expected flower time is up. knowing full well that i’m not going to chop until a week or two or three after that.

Watered in 1.5l again today with the bio heaven, calcium, and algabloom.

Moisture meter fell to 2 (of 10) in the front left of the pot. Given the confidence that I got on keeping them around a few more weeks I think I might do another PK boost tea this weekend. A good drench will tell me how much that soil will actually hold.

Put another .75 liters in this evening. Still no uptick on the moisture meter. And the humidity was below 48% so I feel the need respond to that a bit. I want it hanging at 60, but it’s winter…

Let me know if you have any advice or ideas for me. :sunglasses::+1:

The only issue I had using that same meter was the probes aren’t nearly long enough to be able to check various depths of the pot for moisture levels. Is why I needed up purchasing one that has a 12” length probe. Don’t use it much anymore but is good to have just in case. Also does very well for me when I need to check soil PH.

@Skydiver whats up bro what kinda probe is it and did you do any back checking with any other tests for ph because the probes i saw were super jumpy and only heard a good thing about a probe when bluelabs involved … I checked with chemicals everyone was way off moisture was acurate but ph was a tough one

Hey fano doing good. Glad to see you back.

Here is what I had posted on meters while back. It’s all about how moist the soil is…or isn’t as to how accurate they are for PH readings and of course maintaining them as well.
I have two of the big ones now and if needed cross check one with the other. Have also done some cross check using slurry as well and as far as I can tell they work fine.

You got it i had chepos every cheap meter i try never works and gotta rebuy higher quality i stopped using neters and just use reagent i think im faster with it i drop 1 drop in ny mix and uts usually 6.5 in RO …rrally only need to oh on silica for me but i still check

Hey @Skydiver I’m with @fano_man on that one, everything I’ve seen/read said the readings would be terrible in ph so I only use it for moisture.

How wet is your soil when you’re taking the ph readings seriously? I’ll give her a spin!

I see your post now, I need some time to process that. I’ll play around in a few hours, sounds like fun!

Scylents-
Finally a chance to try and help you. This happened on my first grow. Terrible lights left me with half the plant ready and half not. I asked all my mentors what were my options. They all said that I could/should harvest whats ready and wait for the rest to finish. I guess that’s kinda like having one plant ready before the other. I would clip whats ready and wait for the others to finish. Your plant only has so much energy at this point, so let it put that into the buds that need to finish and not to the ones that are. I don’t think it makes a difference or not, but I was not growing with organic soil on that grow. I hope this helps you out. For shits and giggles her are the before and after shots of that partial harvest. You can pretty tell I took almost the whole left side of the plant off! lol

And by the way, that 1st plant is the same seed as the one now. What a difference. Still scratching my head on that one. Same shipment, same little packet. Good luck on your harvest scylents. Peace…
