Indoor Feminized seeds are producing Seeds! :(

last year I got 10 feminized purple haze seeds. I successfully germinated and took 5 of them to flower outdoors with no problems. Good yield with no seeds.

I since have put together an indoor setup and have the remaining 5 going. These are located inside a grow tent inside a closet. 4 weeks into flower and all has gone well… until now. The buds are now covered in seeds. I am heart broken.

I have read multiple articles on hermaphrodites, I could be wrong but I am fairly certain that these are not herms.

This leads me to believe that these plants must have been pollenated by an outside source. But I cant imagine how this would have happened. Hard to believe that there are mature male plants near by this time of year… unless some one else near by has an indoor grow and for some reason has males. But even if that is the case, is it probable that the pollen could migrate from outside into my house into my closet and into my tents!!!

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Or have suggestions as how to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks!!

Hey @ReefChief, welcome to ILGM. I’m sorry to hear about your seedy buds. Could you post some pictures? Might not help, as it’d only take a banana or two to pollinate a whole acre. Are you certain you don’t have any light leaks (doubtful, in a tent inside a closet) or maybe an indicator light on some equipment that stays on, like a powerstrip? It doesn’t take much.

Photos mate so we can see if any nanas are around, you can carry pollen in to your growroom on your clothing.

Sounds like they were probably polinated from an outside source. Either way not good & sorry to hear it m8.

Thank you for the replies. I will post some photos on here tomorrow when they lights are back on.

I honestly hope that they are herms, though i dont know how commonly that occurs?
better that than having to deal with pollen in the air. Not sure how I would do that anyway?

If you’re keeping your grow space clean, and not taking the plants outside, or bringing any plants inside from outside, it’s unlikely they were pollinated from outside, but it’s possible.

We’ll take a look when you post pics. If it’s not too big of a deal, post up what you’re using for equipment, growing medium, temps, relative humidity, and whatever else you think is pertinent information.

I’m wondering kinda specifically how you’re bringing fresh air into the closet and/or the tent, as well as exhausting air out of tent?

A pic would be interesting.

I’ve seen a few people post pics of swollen calyxes and they think it’s seeds.

Thank you all for your support. Here are the photos setup and parameters. I was hoping that these where just swollen calyxes but there are confirmed seeds. I should mention that I have a second tent setup that is 2 weeks into flower. Do you recommend removing the seeded plants to avoid ruining these?

Sure looks like seeds.

Yes, remove male ASAP.

I don’t believe that there are any males. Should I remove the pollinated plants?

If the pollinated plants are not the pollen source, let them ripen.

You will have a ton of seeds. They will not be feminized but who cares? Just cull the males.

I don’t really see anything jumping out at me as a problem in your pics or support ticket. Any chance you have a light leak? If you can’t find something that would cause them to go herm, I wouldn’t rule out an outside pollen source.

Check over your plants for nanners. This is one I picked off my plant.
