You’re correct, initial auto tray fill which usually takes a gallon or so at a PH of 5-9-60 then fill the next several gallons around d 5.7 and monitor the drift. It should drift up to about 6.2 near the end or close to next res fill ![]()
When I do this should I put like 10 gallons in reservoir at 5.9; ppm I’m using etc. Open the valve and let fill. Then put in more water and make full solution at correct ppm but at a ph of 5.7?
Whew. This dehumidifier I’m running is using a ton of electricity. I think I’m gonna bump it up to 50 percent in basement.
Also. Looking to filter (within reason) my air intake into my tent. I don’t know that I need much but want something to keep bugs from getting in. Right now I’m pulling through square intake but will soon draw though 6 inch tube and a little restriction probably wouldn’t hurt. Or is this overkill?
Go to Lowe’s or HD and get a 14x14 air filter register and a short piece of hose, mines 6 inch. Run the hose into one of the bottom inlets to tent and close drawstring tight, easy to change without taking apart. I put one in the wall of the grow room for and air inlet and it works great. ![]()

Start off with 2 gallons at a PH of 5.9 and the let the trays fill then add 2-4 more gallons at 5.7. It’ll take better than a week for young plants to consume that much. Check the res PH in 2 days and adjust back to 5.9-6.0 if needed ![]()
Off and running. Am I correct in thinking to wait one week before pushing air through the dome?
I don’t use the air domes would think you could start right away ![]()
Got em in. That wasn’t as straight forward as I thought. But all the domes should be getting a near appropriate amount of air.
Do the autopot trays only fill about an inch? Mine are filling about halfway up the water line nut that attaches the hose to the valve. Cheers
This sounds right, I get varying water levels in my trays. As a reminder you’re running salt based nutrients and it’ll have a tendency to collect around the tray inlet hose and valves. Check your res filter about every 3rd fill to make sure it’s not full ![]()
@OGIncognito I just have the aquarium filter medium in the box attached to my outlet inside my tank. I’ll make sure I check it periodically.

What do you all do when you have several hygrometer and they all say something different?
I’ve got a ThermoPro that I think is most accurate +- 2 and it checks out most times but my AC probe in my tent is wildly erratic both above and below it.
Easy way to calibrate them is to put them in a small tote with some Boveeda 62 percent humidity packs. Let them stabilize overnight and check immediately upon opening, if one says 60, write +2 on it, if it says 63, write -1 on it. That way you know how off each is and how to get correct readings.![]()

Can’t offer anything better than what Doc suggested ![]()
Thanks a ton. Just trying to dial in my new area and if I got 50rh in my entire basement and can’t get my humidity below 58 on full blast w my exhaust I know something is up. I’m gonna go grab a fresh Boner’s or 2 and see what it says. I’m trying to just judge by my plants but they are autos and I want to baby them.
Not boner. Boveda ![]()
Finally got matching hygrometer readings. Top one is in my intake. Other two in tent. AC probe reads 2% lower and 2 degrees hotter but it’s closer to plants and light.
I also got a new AC infinity probe. Now it’s spot on without adjustment
1 month in. Got both lights going now and autopots spread out in tent.
Got my temp gun and noted my leaf offset is -4/-5.
Vegging at 80f and 55-60rh makes sense now vpd wise.
Autopot is easy but definitely different than hand watering. Hotter than hell this year; 90 in October.
fim seemed to go well. Plants are very very bushy at least 4 of 5 are. The pink Panama x forum stomper is larger and isn’t as dense.
Feeding at 700 as I went higher and they seemed stressed. I’m unsure about the amount of air I’m pushing in via the air dome but I’ve read it’s ok to be higher if you have a loose medium.
Here’s a pick from yesterday. Probably do some lst tonight.
@OGIncognito man. These plants have drank about 10 gallons in 9 days.
