Im fairly new to growing. Does the marijuana stem typically get thicker at the top and the lower stem thinner?

Welcome aboard!!! Put some more soil in there, up to the rim. If need, you can put a stick to prop it up if leaning occurs.

It may need more light to keep it from getting leggy too, the soil like @Borderryan22 said will definitely help hold it up.:+1::smiling_face_with_sunglasses: and make sure you aren’t overwatering too, very common. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the neighborhood. Is the lower part of the stem brown? The bottom leaves turn brown isn’t good.:victory_hand:t3:

No, the lower stem was a red color still kinda red. I screwed this up when I started this. I overwatered my seedlings and they stunted. I now only water once a week.
I would have thrown the plant out but in the last week it is taking off and growing fast.
The lower stem is still very flexable.
Thank you for your input!

Hello! Thank you for your response! I appreciate all the input. I started off with a junk blue light from walmart. Now I have a full spectrum sansi led light.
It was leggy in the beginning. I currently have the plant 14" from the light and the plant seems to like it there.
Unfortunately in its first week it got leggy.
When I look real close at the nodes, this plant seems to be a female. At least I hope anyways.
Im up to 5 nodes on this plant now and it has 3 fan leaves all the way up.
Im using trophy wife strain seeds I found in an ounce of weed I got at the dispenserary.

That is good to hear. It’s very hard to make out particular parts in pictures. Happy she is taking off. Happy growing.:victory_hand:t3:

Thank you very much! I am so happy I found a place with like minded people.
I was injured real bad at my job 10 years ago. The good green relieves my pains. I been put on disability so, I have to be very frugal. I got an ounce of the trophy wife strain and found seeds. So far, it has been 3 fan leaves up to now.
I will add some soil as you suggest, thanks!
