First grow setup is up and running. Going to be the home for 5 ladies. Running AC Infinity S33 light and T6 Cloudline in a 4x4x6’6 tent. Started one plant early to get the feel of things hoping that if I messed up it wouldn’t ruin the whole crop. I feel like it’s going ok after some adjusting thanks to the advice from a couple fellows here this morning so just started the other seeds and should have them in the tent within a week. Using mothers earth groundswell soil and plan on using fox farm nutes. @Zudnik here is my setup
Just so you know, that light may not be enough for the 4x4 as it is rated for a 3x3. You may not get coverage to the perimeter. Other than that, setup looks great!!
Spot on. The light is sufficient enough for 2 plants, max. I run the equivalent of 1.5x the wattage of a single S33 over each plant I grow to get big, dense buds. Bud density will suffer with inadequate light. More wattage is the single most important factor for great bud.
Ideally, since you have a 4’ tent, something that covers at least 4’ would be better. Many will go an extra foot of coverage. This gives more even PAR values over the flowering area.
My thought process was that since it’s rated for a 3x3 area it would be fine since that’s about the area I would actually be growing in. I put it in a 4x4 so I would have some room around the plants to work. It’s something I’ll look at though for sure.
That was my thought process also with my 5x5 the mars hydro ts3000 is good for veg in it but flower its only good for a 4x4 and i did see the outer edges of the plants suffered which is why I now have 2 of those lights i think it’s 40ish watts per square foot but again I’m still learning so i could be wrong. Looking like your about 2 weeks ahead of me so I’ll be lurking throughout
So you guys were right about the current light setup (imagine that). Started doing some PAR reading with my light cranked up around the tent and found that around the outside was only getting about 500 PAR. From what I’ve read you want double that for flower if what i read was correct. Either way went ahead and started shopping and with multiple hours of reading reviews and watching videos decided to order the Mars Hydro FC-E4800. Now my wallet hates me and is giving me the cold shoulder but I think it was worth it. It is supposed to be a very nice light that gives much more uniform light across the entire 4x4 area. It will also still work with my AC Infinity controller so that is a plus. Thanks for pointing out the light issue early on for me. Glad I didn’t find out when my ladies try to flower.
That will be well worth it, hate to see you get disappointed after 14 weeks🤪 @Fatz1973 also uses that light i believe now that i tagged him he’ll probably chime in. Keep em growing brother
@Jnagoh I did use the MH FC-E 4800 for two of my grows. I found in a 4x4 tent I could easily flower 4 five gallon pot photo period plants. I did just recently bump up to the FC-E 8000 and that fits exactly into my 4x4 with zero light fade on the edges or in the corners.
4800
Update! New light should be here today so I haven’t put any new ladies in the tent…yet. Here is the one that is lonely and looking for friends as of this morning. This one is 18 days old.
I know the tent looks in disarray and the cable management looks horrible but I’m leaving for an overnight trip and this was the best I could do with the time I had plus I was super excited to get the new light in. I’m sure this will work better than the other one. How much airflow should a tent this size have? I am starting to doubt that I have enough. I only have a little 6 inch hurricane and a 6 inch ac infinity.
@Jnagoh Two 6 inch clip fans and I put command strips on my tent door so I can open it at a 45° angle and I set a 20in. box fan on a pot blowing into the door on medium.
