I recently just got back from vacation and had put a reminder in my phone to flush my auto before harvest and completely forgot to flush. I just chopped down the plant when I realized I had forgotten. I plan on drying for about a week and then curing for 8 weeks, is that 8 week cure time going to help with the flavor and harshness or have a skrewed myself?
I don’t flush
Dry and cure properly and you will have some great smoke
agreed.
Many people don’t flush. I wouldn’t be concerned.
I don’t flush either. Just plain water towards the end, but I also grow organic, so there’s a difference there. Just finished a gelato that is very very dank.
No flushing here! Well, not the plants anyways.
My 2 cents, I think the reason it makes no difference is that plants don’t die once cut from the root system. If they did you couldn’t clone and flowers you cut wouldn’t continue to blossom like roses do. So once you cut a cannabis branch, whatever nutrients are in the leaves and flowers will continue to be changed into plant material or sugars for a time just like it would if still attached to the roots. So the idea that the bud is full of chemicals is false. Plant foods are basic elements like calcium, nitrogen, iron, and such and in a weak concentration at that. Even at 1000ppm that is only 1 part per 1000 or 0.1%. When you stop feeding the plant, it begins to move the nutrients it needs from one part to another. So it takes first from lower leaves and moves necessary elements to buds which it is trying to make seeds in. So flushing doesn’t clean the buds from a thing.
No flush here either. Especially since living soil.
So what is the main difference between flushing and just giving water at the end? Is it the amount? Just chopped a Durban that I fed 2 days prior. De-budded the plant and put in my drying rack. The second one will have a couple waterings before chop and I’m going to cut it and hang the plant whole, then cut the buds off later to finish. I’ll try to remember to pay attention when smoking it too notice any difference.
You are fine my freind.
All that flushing before harvest to effect smell or taste is a myth. Blind taste tests show people cannot tell the difference and infact they tend to pick the unflushed weed over the flushed weed.
Thanks @1HappyPappy. That’s a relief. Only my third harvest, the first doesn’t count, so I was a little concerned. The tric color change caught of guard.
Not wasting your fertilizer on plants that won’t be around long enough to put the fertilizer to use.
Longer can be better, if properly stored and maintained.
The wait is torture, but worth it, I hope.
