Hps or led grow light? Any suggestions

Ive had a 600wattz hps light for a few years thats been good so far but ive heard led is the new way to go. Any suggestions on led grow lights 600w - 1000w thats legit? Been reading views on amazon alot of false wattage up there

Better to know what size growspace you need to light.
Wattage per square ft is important. True wattage not stated.
I have 36 watts per ft sq and do fine.
Some like 40 or even 50.
Better lights use less per sq/ft

You can look at …
HLG Horticultural Lighting Group
AC Infinity
Spider Farmer
All 3 have a good respect among many members.
The diode of choice is Samsung LM301B or LM301H, the H being just a bit more efficient.

Horticulture Lighting Group is where I’d point you to to start.

There are very few lights sold on Amazon that I’d recommend.

Your HPS will grow good weed so the main reason to switch is to reduce heat and electrical costs. That said I’d get the most efficient lights available which use top-bin Samsung diodes. 600 watts would be the minimum I’d run in that space and would prefer 1,000 watts or so dialed down (which makes them much more efficient than running at 100%)

My tent is 6x6 I use an HLG 650R and had a return plant to care for so I added this light.

So I’m confused
You grew in a 15x9 room with a single hps or multiple?

@Myfriendis410 suggested 600w minimum or 1000w dialed down.

But it will take alot more then that to light a 15’x9’ space.

Useing my Roi-e720 for an example it would take about 6 fixtures at 720 watts each so thats a minimum of 4.3 1000w lights to properly light that square footage.

I bought lights from this company years ago. They are expensive but worth every penny I spent.

Flence Bioengineering

Based on the old 50 watts per square foot I get around 700 watts of LED’s for that space. That’s why I chose those as examples. Coverage would be a problem but likely several smaller fixtures would be needed.

Perhaps it was misread. 15x9 is 135 sq.ft and @ 50/sqft it would be over 6000 watts.
But if the previous grows were under a 600w HPS then its apparent that its a grow “in the room” and not utilizing the entire room.
Thats why I asked how big is the grow area. Maybe I should ask how many plants will be grown at a time.
Using the whole room and giving each plant 4 square foot one could comfortably grow two rows of 8 plants along the 15ft walls with a 3 ft walkway between. So lighting would be two 15x3 long areas. About 3500 watts of good lighting should suffice. But I am going off the rails here. The OP just wanted to know who made decent lights. HLG is probably the best place for that.

This was what i read also  that’s why “i was confused”
135 is alot more then 14

Either way @Joker1998 if its just part of the space or the entire room, there is calculators online to do the math for you.
Its basically more about "how much ppf do you need to light a given space.
This is where its important to get accurate information about the lights.
If we can’t trust what the manufacturer says then its hard to know …

Theres a site call “coco4cannibus” that has 100s of tests they did as a 3rd party on different lights of all sizes.
You can watch the test, see the lights in action for yourself.
Then there’s their calculator that helps you know how many you would need if multiple is needed and the cost to operate and more…

If you want to learn about leds, that site is tremendously helpful

Look at green beam as well. Good budget light with amazing results. I switched from KINGled and I’ll never go back or to anything else. Just gonna add more of them

Yep - GreenBeams is a great way to light up a room for not much $ comparatively.
HLG refurbs are another great choice for multiple fixtures - I have the 650R in my room (9x13) with several 240 watt supplemental lights from GreenBeams , HLG, and KingBrite

Late to the party, but I’d also recommend HLG. I’d love to have that much space to grow in. The HLG Scorpion will flower a 5’x5’ area. How many you need depends on how your grow room is set up.

You can save a lot of money buying refurbished lamps. If you catch them having a sale you can save a lot more. Their sales are usually 25% off. If you can’t wait someone may be able to hook you up with a discount code.
