How to setup a carbon filter/ fan combo

Mine as well I only have a little intake fan so the negative pressure helps I would think

Looks good! Tents are so nice and clean looking

Noticing the light in the duct. Can light pass into the tent through there? if so, a 90 degree elbow or similar will help block it. Light doesn’t turn corners well. Just a though.

That is the vent for the light it closes whe the light is off the 6" fan on the vents the light and scrubber is vented out the back

Gottcha :+1:

Figured something like that but just wanted to make sure. Better safe than sorry

I hav negative pressure and still have smell. Any ideas?

How tight is the tent? Mine get’s pretty tight. No slack at all.

Okay @yoshi so far so good brother on the new way of setting up my carbon filters to fix the smell issues check it out it still moves plenty of air

one filter on the intake one on the exhaust on the out side
If anyone knows of a issue or problem I am creating here please let me know I am just trying different things to see if I might stumble into something good @Majiktoker @Hogmaster @Aquaponic_Dumme @Paranorman @ktreez420

I know I wasn’t on the list but is there any way to get the outside one up higher to eliminate some duct, which causes restriction. The less the better and in this case where you might be battling restriction already because of the 2nd filter, any little bit helps.

@Matthew420 you mean do I have the tent filled with plants? I guess the answer is yes.

Sorry man, I wasn’t clear.

I mean, how tight is the fabric the tent is made of. When my tent is sealed it’s tight, no slack at all, almost like a drum, but not that tight.

@Matthew420 the fan actually is doing pretty good so far much better than I expected with one filter it changes the air 2.5 times per minute so I figure even if i cut that in half it should still work okay thanks

Are you running fan too fast for filter? I hate how they package these things now used to be you bought a filter read it’s specs they have a min and max cfm to be effective. Carbon works by making contact with molecules over a set pace too fast or too slow and it doesn’t work right. Can Filters are still some of the best going and they list specs for each filter with min speed for exhaust and recirculating as well as a max. If you have neg pressure everything is pulling through filter but may be out of correct range

Mine is tight and has a dent due to negative pressure. Is that good? I’m having all sorts of issues with environment here. It seems the carbon filter takes all the heat and humidity right out and let’s the smell out as well.

you need a speed controller sounds to me like you are running fan too fast

@Donaldj I don’t have a speed control so I can’t adjust anything unless I need duct between the filter and the fan. Could that be it?

go buy a dimmer switch at hardware store they are $9-10 bucks come with instructions cut cord and wire it in very simple if you wish can order speed controller and fix line after but trust me they work

My filter has a min speed of 160 cfm max 1300 recirc 600 exhaust and yes their is a difference between recirculating and exhaust recirculating assumes closed environment so molecules get scrubbed twice exhaust is one chance to get it right

Tight is good but @Donaldj brought up a good point about maybe too fast. It took me a while to get mine “tuned” in to where I wanted it.

Like I said they sell fan filter combos and assume people will know to dial them in with no instructions if you slow your exhaust some exchange rate will let both humidity and temps raise some if you have to run humidier too often it will reduce life of carbon filter.
