I know to put them in darkness for at least two days, I chose 3 to be sure. my question is when you take them, do you pull them by the roots or can you cut them close to the surface? just wondering if it makes a difference. also do you let them dry in darkness or light? thanks for the help.
@fwn54 I would put them in paper bags like lunch bags in a dark area I will hang for 4-5 days then bag them up for a few more days depending on size and humidity but then jar it after a day if it’s wet again I put in bag another day then back in jar then burp daily 3 months is the best for a good proper cure and keep jars in a nice dark you got this the hard part is not smoking all of it before it’s done Hope this helps
it does but I cant wait 3 months ill do the best I can but … you didn’t say which way is best getting them out of the ground.
If it’s done cut it at the bases by dirt
When I harvest I cut each branch off the main stalk and hang them up individually. I trim the leafs off mine before I hang them and once the stems snap when bent they are ready to jar up and cure.
I had a conversation with another member on here I forget who but they leave all of the leaf on them and hang them up like that and then trim the leafs when they are dry, he says he finds it gets better flavor I’m going to try this technique with some of mine to taste test.
I hang the whole thing
I thought my discussion about it was with you @Hogmaster. Wasn’t %100 though.
And I trim individual stems and hang them on a laundry cord in the bathroom with a fan circulating air and I wet trim when I harvest then clean them up again just before the mason jar and cure . Since it is only for personal use if it is extra heavy with trichs I won’t even bother with the second close trim
thanks for the help. that answers my questions about that. 3 months to cure is a problem this being my first harvest and I don’t have a back up. its like a guy being in the desert without water and come across a puddle, and waiting to drink until I find out if its pure or not. now my question is how do you ever get ahead? im doing this just for my personal use, and I guess my next step is to grow more and make last what I have now. my big mistake this time I think was using small buckets to grow in, and a small space. im fixing to order seeds and im using a whole room instead of a closet and using 5 gallon buckets for each plant, hopefully this will increase my yield and give me more time to do the curing properly.
I thought id let anyone that has helped ,me know , that I have finished harvesting. from not knowing anything when I started to now is a big difference. I have to say it ended a lot better than I thought it would. I have 12 8oz jars 9 of which is buds full. it is white widow and it is potent. I would have gotten much more if I do things right the main thing I think was how much dirt to grow in. I used 2 gal buckets and that its way too small. when I pulled the dirt from one it was nothing but a root system. im going to 5 gal next grow. my biggest bud was as big as my thumb and twice as thick. the weed tastes like a piney kind of taste. anyone that has smoked white widow can tell me if that is right or not. I am going to let them cure in the jars I have, I have one question about that how often do you burp? other than that im good. thanks everyone that has answered all my stupid questions from start till now, we made some great pot here. without everyones help I would never have gotten these results sooo thank you.
If there in the jars in there that for you will want to dump them out every day for about five minutes maybe 10 but I’m back in the jar until they are completely dry you OK can you this process a few days after that you’ll be able to just open the jar for a minute and close it again congratulations great job
I believe it was me @Jmesser80 …
I cut at base of trunk and hang in darkness for up to 3 weeks at 25 % to 45 % humidity , until they kinda snap… then I trim off all the leaves and all the sugar leaves and then they go into jars for 2 to 3 months getting burped and stuff…
I will usually sort out fan leaves from sugar leaves because fan leaves tend to not have a lot of trichomes on them… the sugar leaves next to the bud is perfect for butter and lotions and all other sorts of things…
Best way to do it… my opinion…
My medicine is to strong some times , all do to patience…
