First time growing and reaching the home stretch to harvest and have seen a lot of folks talking about flushing the plants a few weeks before harvest. I use AC infinity self watering bases and was wondering if flushing is needed or not and if so, how should I go about it? Thanks!
Just add straight water to the reservoir instead of nutrient solution.
But flushing before harvest is over rated bro science.
It want hurt anything and will save ya some coin in nutrients but that’s about it.
But, there’s no scientific evidence showing any benefits. Most people like the idea of following closely to nature and nature doesn’t flush. Infact, any time actually blind taste tests have been done. The results suggest people prefer the unflushed weed… same goes for produce really. Fruits and veggies grew as closey to as they would be in their natural environment just taste better
Google “blind taste tests of flushed and unflushed cannabis” if you’re interested… it’s pretty cool stuff to me
I grow with bottom feeding and feed till harvest.
Thanks for the info, I am finding more of a crossroads in everyone’s opinion on it. The natural route seems more logical to me. I don’t think I supplied as much supplemental nutrients as I should have for this grow which helps weigh my decision that the flush shouldn’t be necessary. Great looking plants you’ve got. I am growing a special queen and a northern light both photo and tossed in a stress killer CBD auto for curiosity sakes. The auto definitely matured a lot faster but the yield is a lot lower. Should not have grown 3 plants in the tent.
To bad my Northern lights is an auto, wish I could have cloned it is smells like lemon so strongly it over powers all my others. My house smells like lemon
They look amazing, way better than mine I do love that refreshing aroma when I check on them before work starts. Being my first run, I just wanted to see it start to finish. Want to get to the point where you and @OGIncognito are in having these immaculate looking ladies growing!
You’re well on your way.
One sure fire way to increase yeild is switch to coco-coir and perlite or other hydroponics.
Nothing wrong with soil but coco-coir is the most user-friendly form of hydroponics and it can be alot easier then soil, with no worrying about runoff at all or when to feed, as you feed with every watering. And some very impressive yeilds to.
My first season was in soil, my 2nd was with coco-coir and no way I’d go back
@1HappyPappy I was planning on going the perlite and coco path when I first started but had my first few seedlings fail on me, chickened out and went the soil route definitely do plan on trying the coco again now that I’ve got at least one grow almost under my belt!
To flush your plants using AC Infinity self-watering bases, you’ll need to stop adding nutrients to the water a couple of weeks before harvest. Instead, fill the bases with plain water. This helps remove any excess nutrients from the soil, which can improve the taste and quality of your plants. Just make sure to keep the water level consistent and avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Respectfully disagree Growmie. With a bottom wicking set up and water only the plant would consume the available nutrients. Flushing or water only won’t improve the taste, a lot of studies have proven this and I’ve tried it as well with no noticeable difference. I do water feed only the last 2 weeks but it only saves on nutrients
