Nitrogen deficiency does that as well.
Dr. Bruce Bugbee has a video suggesting to use vermiculite. Good source of silica.
@beardless thanks for the help. Extremely appreciative!!
Yah theres a few deficiencies that do that aswell which makes it harder to find which one is causing the problem
I tried his peat and vermiculite recipe when I first switched to Jack’s. The soil worked great. Peat and sphagnum moss is not replaced very fast so I figured coco was a better option.
I definitely have a Phosphorus, nitrogen and possibly calcium deficiency as well but i have to wait till the soil gets dry before i can feed nutrients again. And that will be at least 3 days more. I hope it doesn’t spread to quickly.
Thats what the research is telling me. I could be wrong because this is just my opinion and i’m to new to know for sure.

Yah look in the flowering stage u are more likely to see deficiencies like magnesium and calcium and potassium and phosphorus maybe iron and zinc as the plants dont need much nitrogen in flower
Thats for sure! Good for the mind.
Best i could tell from my " consultation" with @Low, was over the 3 days it sat idle, after i expanded, the ph got too high by time i dropped seeds. It never dried out during that time, since i used a lil too much to expand. If that makes any sense? Sure do miss Low. Super smart grower he is, and always willing to help. Taught me so many key things. Hellraiser as well.
Yes @Low and @Hellraiser have taught us soooo much!
And both have vanished !!?
I feed every time. Especially in coco. Ive bounced around between 80 and 100% strength. I did just see, on greengenes garden, where he cut out the epsom salt completely for now. Trying to find out whats up with that. Maybe someone here knows??
I do know the Jacks formula for other garden plants is the same except it leaves out the Epsom salt.
Perhaps they decided to try it out that way. Maybe their water has enough Magnesium without the Epsom.
I was trying weaker formulas for a while but I see deficiencies and found that I needed more part A to prevent them. I actually now am mixing a slightly stronger mix.
I know it’s frightening, especially in HR’s case. I sure hope everything is okay
Hellraiser said something about being very busy and that he would be scarce for a while. I expect to see him back soon.
Sure hope so. It’s been like 3 months….
Best I can tell the ph in the soil of my 7 week old girls has dropped below 6.0 to about 5.8. Should I try to correct or not? If so what is the best and safest way to do it? Any advice would be appreciated. The soil is FFOF. I have been feeding the FF Trio as per the chart. Three Gelato AFs and 2 Gold Leaf photos. Gold Leafs are just starting to flower and the Ads are well into flower
FoxFarmsAcidForest tends to tank on pH lately. I think it was @SynysterChris that happened to
Im not sure if there’s much difference; result is same issue, but my soil came at like 5.0 right outta the bag it was horrible.
I tried watering with some dolomite lime but I don’t think it raised it much.
In the end I just started feeding with Advanced nutrients 3 part “pH perfect” line and every feeding the runoff pH would get better and better. Lately it’s at like 6.4-6.7 so I just use AN every other feeding or so.
Other than that I have no idea of other ways it can be fixed,
For me even flushing one plant profusely didn’t really correct the soil pH even though it stripped most of the ppms out.
@Mancat maybe you could try the Advanced Nutrient line like @SynysterChris … or just ride it out. I don’t even check pH anymore so I can’t give advice
I will say, even though mine was way low, plants weren’t necessarily unhappy. I just watered with good ph’d water and they were doing fine. For all I know it could have been a non-issue.
I think there’s also some science about pH fluctuating dependant on moisture level with soils that have buffers in them.
Maybe it’s higher when it dries out, that just never gets noticed because we can only test wet haha
