Hi Guys I’d like a bit of advice from our resident experts if possible.
I’m a beginner trying to grow a Cheese Auto in soil. My Plant is now 31 Days above the surface and is growing well.
This was her 9 days ago…
She’s filled out a bit since then. My question is… How many shoots or potential Colas should I allow to grow upwards? The side shoots you can see at the bottom are turning upwards and have started forming two smaller shoots at the base of the leaf stems. If I allow this to continue I will have loads of them trying to compete for light, room and nutrients. In a grow of this kind should I trim out the lower shoots before she get into flowering and if so, how many main shoots should I leave on the plant to form into Colas? It sounds strange, obviously I’d like a plant that produces more Weed than I can handle but I realise that to get the best results I only need a few strong, healthy and well fed colas. But how many on a plant? Should I trim and train it to produce 4, 6, 8 or how many would be best?
If this is a stupid question I apologise but I’d appreciate any advice you can give.

I don’t grow autos but fro that picture I wouldn’t do much maybe remove the bottom 4 but that’s about it I not even sure if I would do that right now @Majiktoker made a good suggestion with topping now if you wanted to but as he said you need to do it now since she’s an auto

@Countryboyjvd1971 and @Majiktoker Thanks Guys. I read a bit about it and decided to try FIMing the lead shoot 9 days ago. The theory is that could give me 4 Shoots coming off the leader. Lower on the plant I can see the brances there are becoming three shoots. I’m happy enough to lose the lower branches to concentrate on the upper ones. I’m just curious to know if I trim off some lower branches how many shoots should I leave on her to produce the buds. Maybe these pics I took today will help…
To try and explain…In the Picture Below… I know that this branch will produce a “Flower” or Cola from these shoots i.e the Blue Arrowed one. Should I nip off the new growths at the Red arrows to let the Blue ones grow better? Also if I do nip off the Red ones around the plant how many Blue ones would be best to leave on her to get strong growth exactly where I think it should be?
No don’t nip it let it be when topping or fimming you want to do the very top shoots the main cola shoot if that help you can top other as well but the main shoot is best
As long as that main shoot is there the plant will focus growth on the site to make plant taller by topping there you cause plant to bush up

Id really advise looking in to low stress training if you haven’t @Wasthatmee - good for filling your tent out, also the thing you where saying about competing colas… doesn’t have to be a problem if you just bend the branches so everyone gets equal light - super cropping I think? looks really horrible… but you should see the plants at the end! like a damn rose bush.

@Mrcrabs Just did that and moved a few lower branches around, light’s looking good too. @NTMAREMACH Lovely looking plant. I’m going to follow what you Guys suggest and sit back, worry free and contemplate my inner Medicine Maker with Massive Yields…
It’s Medication time
You can top and LST another method you might want to research is super cropping it another training method
As I said before you can top more than once just need a few weeks in between
Last grow I topped twice so I had 4 tops each plant
This time I plane on topping one of my plant at least three time for 8 tops then after veg period or six to eight weeks I’m moving it outdoors should be a monster plant I’ll put it in a 25 gal pot when I transplant outdoors
@Countryboyjvd1971 Be careful my friend, a pal of mine grew plant like that, climbed to the top and found a Giant’s Castle. It wasn’t so good after that.
