good lad, update us on pics!
make sure to use great white rooting powder man, I saw a you tube video of a guy with the exact same sized pot, it was more like a tree!
@garrigan62 Simple precise and useful. Thanks that’s exactly what I wanted. ![]()
Hahahahaha lol I’ll keep an eye out for the big bad giant @Wasthatmee thanks for the good laugh bro
I hope so @Ragnar lol
Nice
job @NTMAREMACH
Bro have you seen mendo dope vides on utube @McLovin777
They grow in 100 to 1000 gal pot absolute monsters stems 3 inches thick and plants 15-18 feet tall crazy
ask me again in an hour and I will have a fair bit of viewing time haha thanks for the link man
It is kinda a trick question since you have account for root mass stalk size strain stem thickness nutrients added if kolas are close to level or on spindly limbs. They only get as big as plant will support and too many takes away from the best ones I’ve tried tons of Kolas and find I get better quality by thinning plant by about 30-40% making sure roots are more than adequate for kolas too many and end up with popcorn buds single bud kolas rather than nicely stacked kolas
So how many do colas do you prefer don? I was thinking 4-6 per plant would be utterly ideal, but let me know what you advise bro
@McLovin777 That exactly was my question. No trick intended @Donaldj I’m an absolute beginner and know nothing of Root Mass, Stalk size, Stem thickness, Spindly lmbs (apart from my own), or Popcorn buds.
I guess it’s just asking experienced growers this…
An average Strain, a 3 gallon pot, basic soil and nutrients, in a 2x2x5 Tent under T5 lights… What would be a reasonable number of Colas to allow to come to maturity?
I don’t want to weaken my plant by leaving too many on to produce poor quality but by the same time, I don’t want to nip off too many shoots and not let her reach a decent potential result.
I could FIM a shoot to produce 4 more then do the same to them to produce 16 Colas. Do that to every shoot on the plant and I’d enter the realms of fantasy with 100+ potential colas on one plant! OR I could nip off some shoots and concentrate on pushing up 4, 6, 8, or 10 well balanced, healthy and full Colas.
On average how many Colas would be best to cultivate?
I’m personally thinking of 6 on my plant but will reduce that to 4 if I see any weakness at all. @McLovin777 you’re thinking 4-6 and that was what I had in mind but was just asking for others views.
Thanks Guys, Happy Paddy’s Day and have a Guinness for me. ![]()
Are they HO t5’s how many watts? I typically go with 6-8 kolas in 5 gal pots but when scrog a person can do far more Pencil/pipe cleaner sized stems within top 2/3rds save, anything in bottom 3rd goes and if they aren’t atleast 8th inch thick they could go aswell. @McLovin777 hydro is a different animal same 2/3rd rule and 4-6 canopy level tops is ideal since nutrients can be dialled up. I am doing scrog with my soil plants and testing 3-5 kola plants in my 20 gal 6 plant unit this flower cycle may yet add screen depends how much they stretch
ha! hahahahaa - I totally forget about the question and just chat a lot of the time, and ask peoples opinions ect - my bad @Wasthatmee.
Just set the flaming hydro up, what an absolute mission - rubber on plastic trying to wiggle those pipes on has genuinely made my hands sore.
@Donaldj I’m 100% with you on the skrog, it gives the plant less strain so can focus on making them colas all nice and juicy - how large is the plant when you top it the first time? in inch or cm ect
@McLovin777 u can start topping once plant has 5sets of true leaves
Meaning what dude? 5 layers of 2 or more leaves/nodes?
True leaves
leaves that look like the iconic pot leaf I start count at three finger leaves and work up
Dont count round leaves or first set of single leaves
Yes 5 sets of leaves or nodes count from bottom up
Looking great you’re going to be amazed here in the next few weeks what happens with that being an auto I’ve been averaging around 70 days to harvest but I do know some will take up to 120 days now is when it’s going to start to explode can’t wait to watch I’ve been in an auto growing mood here lately and that’s all I have been growing I do have a few photos going at Auto are a lot of fun to grow
Hi guys another quick question…
I’m now on Day 47 and things are looking good. This is one of the Flowers and I’m over the Moon with how she’s going.
My question is that on a few of the flowering heads I have new flowers formed at the nodes below the flowers as shown below… Should I let these carry on or nip them off to let the top ones thrive?

The Red Arrows are the ones I mean. I’m only learning and if this is a stupid question let me know, thanks Guys.
It’s 0145 Hrs here so I’m going to Medicate
and hit the sack so I’m not being rude, I’ll check in the Morning for any advice you can give.
@Countryboyjvd1971 @Hogmaster @McLovin777 @garrigan62 @Oldstoner and anyone else I’ve missed out. ![]()
I would leave it alone you still got quite a ways to go and that could be the bottom of a big bud
No don’t take it off. It could grow into a solid bud top to bottom. That is bud you will be removing, lowering your yeild
Yep agree with both previous replies those are buds try to never trim except right at the end and even then only take a minimal fan leafs and possibly a few fluffy popcorn buds
