I think 2-3 would be a good number to start with. There’s too many different brands of nutrients now, so it’s gonna depend on the ease of use that you want. Promix is actually a peat based soilless medium and not soil, so you will want to ph between 5.5-6.2. Blueberry autos are great plants and easy to grow. Best of luck and welcome to the forum!
If I’m growing in a mix of perlite, coco coir, peat moss, Vermiculite & potting mix does this fall under “soilless” media? And PH should be 5.5 - 6.2…?
I wouldn’t do more than 2 in that size space but I also have a tendency to let them veg a little too long for the size I want. My closet is about that size and I’m gonna keep it at 2, mostly autos. So far I’ve had to move everything to the 4x4 tent in flower because of the size.
@greencoat, I use roots organics which is predominately perlite, coco, and peat moss with various amendments. I PhD at 6.5 in my first grow and had issues. I was advised to go to 5.8 by bob31 and haven’t had issues since. My runoff is always 5.8 to 6.3 which is what the company website says it should be.
I am fascinated by the 5.8/6.5 discussion what what drives the difference. Best I can glean from the internet, in which there is limited discussion, is that if a soil is predominately humus or worm casting based, its soil; if it’s predominantly perlite, vermiculite, coco, peat, etc, its soilless. I’d like to hear the labs take.
Ok, well that tells me I need to lower my PH as I’ve been doing 6.5PH in my soilless mix. But strangely enough I haven’t had any issues🤔 but in saying that I would be interested to see what my PPM is after both run offs at 6.5 & 5.8.
The theory baffles me with regards to this.
Is it a case of slow release and fast release based on organic vs synthetic…?
Grab a bag and fill 2 pots to the same point. Dump exactly the same amount of water at the same ppm into each. One at 5.8 and one at 6.5 and test ppm of each. There’s no reason to wonder, it’s an easy test to do.
thanks for the input. I’ll start with that and practice some LST on them. I’ll still persist in thinking they’re Autos and these first seeds were just a fluke . Practice makes perfect
Edit: what is you guys opinion on SCROG for autoflowers?
Hi @osmodiar, Im growing 4 photos in a 2x4x7 tent and its tight…I think 3 is fine so you can maximize each plant. I hear topping autos is a no-no…life cycle is too short for them to recover. I made a mistake in my first grow of keeping the light stoo high and they grew to tall. I had to manifold them to keep them lower and the scrog helped. 3 plants IMHO are easier to care for than 4 and so on… I started with 6 in a 20 36 60 and it just wasnt enough room so I picked up a 2x4x 80" and put 4 in the larger and Im finishing the other 2 in the smaller tent. You can check my grow. Im close to harvest.
thank you @abouttime for your input. I’ll keep on considering those seeds are Auto, i’ll grow 3 and i’ll LST them gently to expose the middle.
I’m just waiting for this one plant I have going to be harvested before going on to the next round.
If those too turn out to be photoperiod, I’ll start the HST for the subsequent grow.
I’ll check out your grow! please tag me in your next post .
EDIT: never mind i found your grow! it looks gorgeous
i went in thinking the same and then thought it was shame to kill any off when they all were fem! Ended up getting second tent to keep em all but its a lot of work. Ill maximize my future plants without overcrowding and making them all suffer a bit.
Country folks(farmers n ranchers) know it’s best to cull the weak ones that would take resources better utilized by the healthy. Din say it was easy, but, tough love has it’s place.
Limit your numbers to what you can care for. Too many take all the fun out of growing and result in a poorer harvest.
Im actually happy I didnt cut any down…the smaller ones that stayed in the smaller tent with the cob exploded here at the finish line…they really took off with the extra room. Just tells me less is more in the future. Good luck brother!
