lol that’s still the same DE. I don’t know why I thought it would just go away but if definitely hasn’t. I’ve tried blowing it, shaking it…that’s gonna be there a minute. The fungus gnat problem… I don’t know if I can even call it a problem. Like occasionally I’ll see one small flying insect, and I guess it’s a fungus gnat. I have to really look for them and now and then I’ll see one.
On yea, I can wait until it’s unmistakably underwatered, not a bad idea. Luckily it looks much better today. I’m noticing a difference in the color of upper and lower leaves. Lower ones are looking a little light. Maybe I’ll measure EC next time and think about starting some nutes. I didn’t take a reading yesterday because I didn’t get much runoff but about a week ago the EC measured 3.2 so I would be kind of surprised if it was time for nutes yet.
The lower leaves won’t recover once the plant starts consuming them. The plant has made an executive decision to consume and discard those. Fungus gnats are just a nuisance, they don’t eat the plants.
Oh yea I know it’s not the gnats, I was just wondering if it was a sign of nitrogen deficiency. Pale green, starting from the bottom. I wondered if it’s time to start on synthetic nutes even though the ec numbers suggest it’s good.
Hydrogen peroxide kills fungus gnat in the soil . I cant remember the proportions off hand but you can find it online . Had them bad once even had to hang sticky fly strips everywhere , that was one of the reasons I went to hydro and clay balls . No pests whatsoever in my tents . However , I do prefer how flowers taste when grown in good soil .
It also kills microbes. Would rather have gnats than a dying microbes. Diatomaceous earth works fine, just put it on the soil, not the plant.
