How do you heat a tent in winter time

I turn my air unit off when I go to work… don’t really have anything on when I go to work lights, etc… it’s an apartment - waste of money (BILLS)… the only thing that’s been on lately is my tent which is set up from 6AM - 8PM… the oscillating fan and air intake run constantly… and you know what from 6 to 8 I’m gone so the lights don’t go off until I return back home when I turn the heater back on… however when it’s time to flower and change to a 12/12 cycle I can only move the time back and hr or so… so you know what them plants might be good for a hr or two until get back home unless that constant up and down in temps like a rollercoaster isn’t going to bother them

This thing I don’t think it’ll fit under both my 3gal at once

VIVOSUN 20" x 20.75" Seedling Heat Mat and Digital Thermostat Combo Set Amazon.com

The basic heat mats dont get that hot. I’ve never needed a thermostat for mine I just leave it on when i need it.

Type vivosun heating mat 2 pack in amazon search they’re still on sale for 16 bucks right now

Real I saw them so if I put them both in a timer to cover 6pm - 8pm once I move to a 12/12 cycle I’d be good

What’s your lights on and lights off temps? Read the posts and didn’t see that info.

How cold does your room get at night? It’s cold where I’m at. 39 degrees right now. I try not to let the room get under 60. Space heaters work but they do run the electric bill up.

Lets start from the beginning. Where is your tent physically located? Can the location of the tent be physically isolated from the rest of the space? I understand that it is unheated and to control the heat you need to rely on some sort of supplemental heat. Be the heat source the grow light or some other source.
Where I live for example I would not be able to grow in a tent located in my garage or some sort of shed. I can reasonable expect below freezing temperatures for 60 days during winter. And another 40 - 50 days of around 40 degrees. Not ideal conditions for trying to grow weed.
What kind of temperature fluctuations, extremes, do you need to deal with?

With the lights off last night it was 69F…

Cadet makes a small floor heater 300 watt or a 500 watt put on either thermostat or what we use For intakes are the inkbird c206 temp Controller Good for 10 amps and a 500 watt heater will only draw 4.1-4.2 amps. @ a 120 volt. Or intake from a warm area. I don’t have cold issues even in winter we have heat issues and intake cooler air from attic through home made Hepa filtering with a total of 16 MERV filtering ( operating rooms gov standard is 16 MERV) commercial grow operations use 8 MERV with uv-c return ducts that’s for another thread I guess. Getting cold in Michigan low 28 tonight wish you luck…

What’s your high temp? A 10 or so degree change from day to night isn’t bad and 69 degrees isn’t bad.
Winter is coming to me and I’m in my basement one room has heat vent and is finished and the other doesn’t. They are adjoining and depending on temp/humidity I’ll open the adjoining door or close also the door into those two rooms and the door at top of stairs. Two tents one normally flower and one veg but sometimes both are flowering. I Open or close the doors depending on my temps/humidity. I’ve bitten the bullet and when needed I’ll adjust the temp in my house up or down depending on what the outside is doing. If you do need a heater get one that isn’t digital because those once power is removed like when using an inkbird controller it won’t come back on when the controller calls for it. Get a dial type analog heater if you need one. I have used one when needed and it has 2 settings 750/1500 watts and hooked to a controller so will heat if say I set it at 65 minimum. They pull a lot of power too so make sure that they don’t overload the circuit it’s on. You could plug the inkbird Controller that the heater is plugged into and plug the inkbird into a timer and set that to come on after lights out and then off before lights on if you need to use the same circuit that your lights are also using.
While keeping temps in range I also need to maintain the relative humidity to also be in range based on the stage of growth.
I have learned to make adjustments as needed based on keeping them in the VPD range.

More than you asked for lol but hope this helps.

I use Honeywell digital thermostats more accurate then analog for stable temps and there like $25-$35 a pc and don’t lose temp settings if electric were to go out. Changed them in my house as well…:

So I know exactly what you talking bout I was looking at just using the heating mats and plugging them into one of the inkbird controllers… I don’t know if the inkbird can have both heat mats come on at the same time same temp for like 2-3 hrs before I get back home after my lights have went off to turn the heater back on in my apartment

I just need 2-3 hrs of heat until I get back home so I can turn my apartment heater back on

Ok now this isn’t until I start flowering in a couple weeks I’ll need 2-3hrs of heat jus until I get back home, do those inkbird controllers allow for two heating mats to be ran simultaneously at same temp

Gotcha, I’ve never used heatmats but I do like the inkbird C206 easy to set temps. I have an inkbird 308 it’s not as user friendly as the C206. C206 set in 10 seconds

Those little heaters don’t put out enough heat to do anything and are a fire hazard. You need one that’s bigger with a thermostat.Mine run for 5-10 minutes an hour and keeps it about 72.
