How do I correct ph issue in soil?

I’m using a mix of 50% strawberry fields at the bottom and 50/50 mix of ffof/hf on top. I’m new to growing and never checked the ph of my runoff. I checked it for the first time today and seen it was VERY ACIDIC. Around the 4.0 mark, so my question is how do I correct this?

What did you water with? Distilled? Tap? Did you check the pH of the incoming water?

When watering or feeding, your pH needs to be going in between 6.2-6.8. This is after you add any nutrients to the water.

This is the best support ticket I can find. Copy, and paste and fill it out the best you can. This will kind of help other experienced growers that come along give you more pinpoint advice. Good luck and happy growing!

I watered with spring water ph’d to 6.5 but I honestly just started checking the ph on my water about a month ago as I didn’t know I had too. This is my fault because I never watered my plants to runoff until now. I didn’t know I had to I thought I would be overwatering the plants. So now I’m trying to correct the mistake. I’m about two weeks into flower

I don’t pH nor do run off. I would probably would raise the pH of the water you put in it till the pH stabilizes.

Do you have a picture of the plants? Are they showing signs of problems? Problems often show up beginning of flower. The demands on the plant are at their highest and when things are off, now is when they are likely to show up.

Start by checking your PH meter in a fresh clean bottle of 7 solution to virufy meter. I’ve never had a run off that low . good luck

I’m using the ph solution to check it but it literally came out orange. The same color as a bottle of liquid dial soap

I had this issue with a bag seed grow not to long ago.

Just about the same soil mixture as you and my growth was super slow.
Turns out my soil was at a 4ph.

I corrected mine by doing a heavy flush. Mine are in about 4 gal pats and I ran probably 15 gallon of water through it. I dropped humidity in my room to 40% and heat up to 82 for a couple days to help it dry faster.

Idk how long it was, maybe 3-4 days, then I watered with a solid 7ph no nutes.
And run off was 6.8 from then on and this is the plant just now. 1633728862162406230110948555556|690x326

This was the plant with the PH at a 4.
I’m pretty sure neem oil is what caused mine to drop so low.
I am not positive but it was the only thing out of the norm I did with it and it’s the only time I’ve had a soil ph so low. I had some mites from soil left outside and I think I used to much.
I killed the mites but just about killed the plant also :man_facepalming:

I’m not an expert my friend but this is what worked for me.

Fox farms pretty well known for having inconsistent ph. I quit buying it and use roots original for potting soil now.

Dolomite lime mixed into your soil will help buffer ph. A little late for that, but you can try top dressing with some. Then I would just run a ton of ph’d water through until you get up to more reasonable runoff.

Really?
First I’m hearing of FF having ph issues :man_shrugging:
All you see and hear of FF is good things about it other then OF is some times pretty hot…

Dolomite lime Scratched in would be your best bet To pull PH up. as @dbrn32 mentioned it might be a little slow. Good luck

@dbrn32 @1HappyPappy when flushing is it ok to do it now even tho I already watered her today ?

You can. If you don’t do it today I would wait until they dry out.

I agree with dbrn32.

I would as someone said, make sure your ph meter is accurate. And if so then I’d address the issue however you decide to. But flushing with ph7 “neutral” water worked for me but it took alot of water going through it.

I just set it in the bath tub and starting pouring in jug after jug till it ran out clear and then another couple if jugs to be safe…
