I’m going into my 6th week of flower with BB in Coco Coir using Jacks 3-2-1. What can I do to grow denser buds?
Good lighting is probably #1 on the list of what you can do.
Sometimes its just genetics. I have had side by side plants produce dense and airy buds at the same time. There has been several topics on this. Its not really related to the quality of the final product. Some people think dense buds are better buds, but they are just a different structure.
The plant in the pic looks great btw
@Old_School- Looks like you are doing things right by using a SCROG, which spreads the plant out give even lighting to all colas. Yes, good lighting is also key.
You can trim everything below the PVC pipe so all the plant’s energy is focused on the top buds. Nothing below the PVC is getting any light, so they wont develop into dense nugs. It also increases airflow and prevents moldy conditions. A lot of people trim the bottom 3 weeks after flipping, but I think you can probably still do it now with good results.
I did trim pretty good a while back and continue to trim leaving more of the fan leaves on the outside. I guess I need to do a little more than I’m doing.
It looks very good to me. Can’t wait to see how it has done on chop day.
Gotta start with good genetics, something bred for its flower only. Not something bred for ice water or press returns. That’s a big thing now this day and age, those flowers will be bred differently.
pH was my problem for a long long time till joining here.
Nice big plants always, airy ass buds. Started with 480 hps then 600 hps then 1000 hps. Then led, not much changes until I dialed in my pH
Just an outloud thought
Very nice looking good.
What do you think about Burce Banner?
I actually have some in my fridge, I haven’t ran it yet tho. Probably be my next!
The most impactful thing you can do to get dense flower is to master the basics. Good lighting, proper pH and nute levels, a good soil, proper watering practices, good airflow, and so on…
I pretty much have all that covered except for the pH which I don’t see a need to worry about. Now lighing is something I will be upgrading depending the end result of this grow.
I did do some trimming today opening up more room for light. This is only 5 weeks of flower with 6 weeks of veg. in a 20" x 24" SCROG. I think it’s looking pretty good!
Interesting. May I ask why?
Musta read right over my reply
That’s what I was thinking.
I read it
To clear something up. This is my 1st time with this strain, Bruce Banner. I use to grow White Widow but may have ended up with bad seeds due to having 4 consecutive indoor grows along with 2 outdoor grows that produced weed that was no better than old Mexican dirt weed that just gave me a buzz. I’m showing my age now. Every grow produced the same quality from that batch of seeds. So with the understanding that genetics plays a huge part in the density of bud I was hoping for better results with this strain. The density of all the WW I grew even before the last batch of seeds were always airy buds, but, the older grows definitely had a higher THC level. Maybe someone could tell me more on the genitics of the BB strain.
BB is supposedly a cross between OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel.
I did read that in it’s description but that doesn’t tell me much because I’m not familiar with eirther of those strains.
