Wiki Leaf has a pretty decent review of the Bruce Banner strain along with some origin information.
That was a good read, thank you.
It looks great!
Hey @Old_School , You are among a lot your generation here. Fact is our demographic is quite active on forums like this. Younger generations for the most part don’t communicate they same way we do.
I looked back and was reading some of your older posts…

Are you still using the single Bestva light? I saw it was only a 100 watt light. I grew for my first year with a similar Viparspectra light. It did ok and I grew some decent weed. Things improved greatly when I followed the advice here and upgraded to light that was truly good. Maybe you have already upgraded your light, if so what are you using for light.
Apologies if you have posted that info already somewhere.
Yes I am, it’s the BESTVA 2023 Upgraded BP1000 LED Grow Light. Depending on how I make out with this grow I may decide to upgrade to the BP 2000. It’s definitely an upgrade from the older LED light I was using which a few of the diodes burnt out from many years of use. I’ve been told by many here that this light is inadequate but contrary to some opinions it seems like it works well for me. I’m not into producing vast amounts of weed, I’m just growing what works for me. I only grow one plant at a time in a closet with mylar on all the walls, a small fan for circulation and an air scrubber if it gets to smell too much. Maybe that’s the difference. Like I said, it works for me. Thanks for your post!
@Old_School
Just chopped down 2 Bruce Banners. Still drying so havent tried it yet. Looks good though.
I think what everyone was saying about ph is it could give you denser buds. It’s so easy to test and makes such a huge difference. As much as the genetics that you aptly pointed out. Say you are only a small bit out of range, great buds, but not their best potential. The nutrients are less available to the plant out of ph range. It’s like ripping down the freeway in a race car but keeping it in 1st gear. Still a race car, still fast in first, not going to win the race or be anything near its potential.
It’s probably the easiest thing (ph) to dial in and get a big boost in performance. Without touching the light, or new seeds. I think what @StonedCold13 was saying is that could directly give you denser buds and a bigger plant. Checking ph range.
Your plants look great, so it’s not far off if it is. It’s so easy to test is silly not to, since it will directly up your performance if you are slightly out of range.
I am also of the age to remember Mexican brick weed and Canadian beasters bags. I turn 46 this year. Welcome to the club. I like your grow and set up. happy growing my friend.
Agreed.
My thinking is even if your grow is doing great as is, then by testing pH and ppm levels and logging them, then down the line if your city changes water or something else happens you can test and see what changed. If you have perfect grows then it would be good to know what numbers are in play.
Okay, I’m back with my pH tester I forgot I had.
The water I’m using now (city water) tested 7.77.
I also tested the RO water I drink and that is at 6.65.
I believe you will say I should be using the RO water. I’m growing in Coco Coir that was buffered twice with Jacks 3-2-1 for my nutes. With my substrate and nutes does it really make that much of a difference. There is no indication of nutrient lost of burning in my plant at all. On another note, RO filters stripped many nutrients that I replace for drinking with Ionic Trace Mineral Drops which make the water like mineral water. It’s really made a difference in my health which I learned after almost 2 years drinking the RO without them. I though about using the RO water but was worried some nutrients removed might hurt my plant.
What is your setup?
Your jacks should supplement the lost nutrients.
Huh me too in the fall, we’re almost the exact same age. So I should know what’s a beaster bag whyd yous call our weed canadian beaster bags lol
@Old_School
My set up: 3x3x6 tent
I use organic promix, had them in 2 gallon bags, will go bigger for sure.
Fox farm trio nutes.
400w hps light for flower. Started them in a 2x2x4 tent under led.
4" inline exhaust fan with carbon filter. I have a 10" fan inside the tent. Tent is in the basement so I don’t have any issues with heat. Big dehumidifier in the room outside the tent.
That makes 3 of us on this year
I too wanta know what this beaster weed is
Smoked tons of brick, literally
Rhymes with easter egg maybe a clue I dunno lol
Just a couple of questions I also learned the hard way about (used meter)
1 was your pen stored with storage solution?
2 did you calibrate since “finding” or have a standard solution to test against?
For almost 20 years off and on I grew @6.5 and had giant plants full of buds. Never dense. I’m hydro so I shoulda been way lower but the dude at the headshop said 6.5 and that’s what I did. Kept fighting problems, never had a book, no forums.
What,lmao
You snuck that one in on me,lol
Whatcha smokin
I tried a lot of different substrates in the past but about 2 grows ago I switched to Coco Coir whit Jacks and I have to say it’s been bullet proof for me with out having any problems and the easiest nutes to work with.
I haven’t grown any autos and with BB this is the firs time I’ve had to go to flower so early due to how vigorious it was growing. It grew pass my SCROG setup but I decided to place it over the plant bending the branches to make it fit. This strain is a beast as far as growth rate.
As far as for the rest of you guys I’ll be 67 this year and hence the name Old_School. Mexican, Columbian, Thai Stick and California Sinsemilla were probably the most popular when I was young. I never heard of Canadian Beaster.
I’ve read this a few times, that’s awesome problem to have.
You got a couple years on me but bet we just as mule headed
You’re probably right
