How are these meters?

On my way to pick up these meters for 30 bucks off marketplace and I am just wondering about them

Bluelab and Apera. Great choices for reliability and longevity.

@Bonjoyle do I HAVE to get solutions for them?

@Bonjoyle and I believe they’re used, is that still a good choice? The person quit growing I believe and is selling their stuff or might not have even used it before

I would get the 4 and 7 and possibly the 10 for calibration. I have an Apera and it came with the 4 and 7. You also need to store it in one of the solutions. Not plain water or even distilled or RO.

@Bonjoyle you store it in the calibration solution?

Yes on the choice. As long as they work. Are you going to be able to test before purchase?

To properly store a Bluelab TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter, it’s crucial to keep the probe tip moist, especially for pH probes. This is done by placing the storage cap back onto the probe after each use and ensuring the sponge in the cap is wet with Bluelab KCl storage solution. If the solution is dry, add a few drops. For long-term storage, remove the cap and place the pen upright in a container with enough KCl solution to submerge the tip.

@Bonjoyle no I can’t test it first but I believe they are fine. Can you show me what solutions I’m going to need to get

and this for calibrating

@Bonjoyle and this looks brand new but there is no cap, is there supposed to be a cap on the end of the PPM meter

@Stever thanks, I bought these already though

No problem

Not sure. Maybe it needs to be cleaned?

4.01 PH calibration solution can be used for storage. Not the 7.0 or 10. Not distilled or R/O. Storage solution or 4.01.

No. The probes on PPM meters should be kept clean but don’t require a storage solution.

Hey so if my meter takes a 7 calibration solution and I have a 6.86 kind at my house and was to use that then it would be off by 14 points right? Now can I just pH down my tap water to seven, checking off of my other pH pen and calibrate using that?
