That sucker so juicy its crying.
Put them seeds in the soil yesterday. I’m expecting to see something above ground today!!
I put some Great White and Azos in the beds where I dropped the seeds, hopefully they do give them a vigorous start…
Also chopped the beautiful mutant PP, because as I was sitting there admiring it as always I wound a nanner! I just pinched if off and cut the plant down…
These two funny looking GZ’s are still ripening up, I hope they’ll finish soon!
AND WE HAVE A LIFTOFF! Today, March 22 is now concidered DAY 1 for these little girls.
All 7 are above ground as expected
I’ll tag some people now in the hope of some back patting and more importantly some serious tips on good watering practices for the seedling stage. These cartons hold maybe half a liter of soil(maybe 20% wormcastings in it).
@Bentstick @SausageMahoney @Dennis62 @Lostgirl @Caligurl @DanB @Beard-O @TransplantedFarmgirl
Sweet lots of lil ones going, all ya all have me abit pacing here no new ones here for a bit yet, to damn cold, and need tents for starting veggies here soon.
Congratulations man ![]()
@Bentstick I think I know the feeling… I was supposed to be preparing for the summer project but that would’ve meant having nothing growing in the tents for in at least a month. I just couldn’t handle this emptiness!
@Dennis62 oh by the way brother I was going to order the amendments you use but it was sold out.
I went and got 5kg’s of
Do you think that will do the trick?
Yes sir that looks like a good product for flowering, sorry flower power was sold out. I hope you will like it my friend
nice sprinkle on top and water in, easy Peay @Hopalong
Great start! I put a little ring of water around the seedlings to promote root growth, starting close and gradually moving out ( over a week or so) . No more than, like, maybe half a shot glass every couple days
Ditto with @TransplantedFarmgirl. I make a tiny ‘mote’ around the seedling that I water in. It keeps the water away from the stem and makes the roots reach out to find the water.
Yes, I’ll press a little with the “dome” to make a little groove for the water.
I took the domes off already and trust the humidifier to maintain sufficient RH, it seems to hang around 65-70%.
I set the initial ppfd to aroung 180-190, should I keep it there or start cranking it up already?
Depending on how the plants are reacting if they are getting “leggy” I would but if they are just chilling and leaves are getting bigger that your fine, them being little don’t need a lot but that also depends on environment
I try to keep the temps at 28c(82,4f) and the RH as close to 70% as possible at this stage.
I really really want to learn to nail the first weeks . Starting indoor growing has made it possible to practise and I’m itching to start the summer’s outdoor project with living soil beds plus other experiments.
I want to thank you guys again for the advice and hope to receive them in the future too!!
Your on the right track, it all comes down to reading the plants and trial and error some like less light some like more, same goes for humidity. Depends what kinda grow you want and what you are trying to achieve, don’t over think it that’s where the mistakes come in. When they that little little water some light no to hot and just let them ride. They adapt to whatever environment, they are plants they are build for whatever mother nature throws at them, we cant control the little things when they outside.
They are not dead or dying this stage is the hardest for some of us so you got it.
Day 3. The girls are seemingly enjoying their home, everything looks normal.
Only one of them has a little weird leaves but I’m not too worried about that. So far they haven’t stretched too much so I quess light intensity is ok.
The weird-o
Long live the freaks!!!
Day 6. Nice growth on five of them, then we have the freak and one a little slower starter:
I’ll give them some time still, but I wouldn’t be devastated even I had to pull the two of them.
Day 8. Everything going smoothly except my humidifier keeps turning off on me. I kept some vinegar water in the base for a while and cleaned the surface of the “bubbler” or whatever it’s called. I hope it helps.
This time I will chase the VPD and DLI, and really try to nail this thing! I lowered the temps to 25c and raised the RH to 80% as these babies are still in the seedling stage right? I have the lights on now 20/4 with 250ppfd giving me the DLI of 17.
I’m following this chart for the DLI:
And this for VPD:
This run will be the tryout for the new dry nutes, Green House Feedings BioGrow and BioBloom. I have a little bit of BioBizz Pre-Mix already mixed in the pots, but I will also mix some of the BioGrow in it when transplanting happens.
I suppose the transplanting is due in a few days so I’m now brewing a compost tea and will water the pots once tomorrow to get the bioactivity going before the girls move in.
Is there anything I’m doing wrong here @Budbrother , too much of everything or?
The Biobizz soil will have enough nutes without adding the BioGrow into the hole. These are still young seedlings. It would probably burn them at this stage and stunt growth. The compost tea would be beneficial to add life and moisten the transplant pots with. Again, at this stage you’d want a heavy dilution 1:750-1k.
I’d probably just transplant. If you have access to kelp, baby oatmeal, or coconut water then adding these would be more their needs. You can buy baby oatmeal or organic coconut water at the grocery store. The oatmeal provides Mycorrhiza and low N. The kelp or/and Cnut provide PGRs for rooting and growth. The Cnut is also a mild enzyme that will degrade organics in the soil.
@Budbrother Do you mean diluting the compost tea that much? My tea consists of 50/50 compost/worm castings and molasses. I’ll add a little pinch of Great White in it just before using the tea.
I will definitely try to find the coconut water, the good attributes sound amazing and I’ve never used it before!
