Homemade tent and light

@Tech1 I think I’m going to build a tent to get me started until I can but one or something else that will contain them.

Probably “diy stealth grow box” or cabinet a good place to start.

That barrel grow is awesome. I’ve seen some pretty stealthy cabinet grows. Plastic totes houses and disguises equipment like blowers and filters. If and when I move, I’ll continue growing, if I have to be stealthy I’ve learned how.

I think it mostly depends on demand you can’t expect 10oz to grow in a garbage can maybe 1 or 2 and when plants take several months start to finish is it able to meet needs? I love homemade grow boxes and cabinets and love when people get creative but most learn fast that a plant when harvested loses close to 80% of it’s weight so you have to size and plan accordingly. They are however perfect for learning and testing to see if you can do it and any return is good to start I wouldn’t go much smaller than your box setup or you will still find yourself buying from others

@Donaldj that’s some of the best advice I’ve seen here. AND it answered a question I recently posted !
Not everyone has the same access, assets or funds as others do. So yeah, while output may not as much, the knowledge gained & enjoying what you grew is the best of rewards. So I’m happy to see you and others encourage creativity here.

The foil can also cause hot spots be careful. If you are going to use foil I recommend that you put the back (less shiney) side facing your plants. The shiney side can act like a magnification glass and burn parts of her

On another note, nice creativity I build my own boxes as well I don’t use tents which is nice because you can be really creative. Also flat white paint works real good for reflectability that’s what I use

To me growing is about the enjoyment I don’t care what budget a person works with for their grow just that they are having fun doing it.
I also don’t grow using top of the line gear most expensive nutrients and buying every new product that says they will increase yields I build my own hydro units use powdered nutrients built entire shed strictly for growing to me it’s only partially the gear the rest is the grower

Yep. I’m enjoying the experience with the ladies as well as my veggie garden. I’m learning and experimenting with both. Sometimes getting sooo technical puts too much stress on the whole endeavor. That’s why I appreciate your approach and advice

Don’t listen to any negativity. I think that after your first grow (or during) you will see how it works and improve if needed. Rock on!

Absolutely!!! After all no one was born knowing everything. We all learn (hopefully) from our mistakes and successes and those of others. Great ‘advice’ is always welcome. But negativity not so much😊

Also, what works in one set of circumstances (climate/environment) doesn’t work in others.

I only have a 4" USB desk fan blowing on the flowers. That’s it. More might be better, but it’s in a closet of a room with AC, so it works.

And if you live in a place like me, where the temperature are mild, but the humidity is almost always 85% or higher, a good dehumidifier goes farther than the best ventilation system does especially during flowering.

My poor mans grow box lol. Old box spring for the frame closed it off with some old plywood. Still need to build the door and add vents. Left gaps in the top for vent( temporarily) lined it with mylar. Built a CO2 gen. with a gal. jug and a shot glass( so i can see the flow) line ran to my fan. Running 2 larg CFL grow lights and 1 led daylight. LED is 65watts and CFL’s are 85 watts. I have a full spec led bar light not added yet and and other CFL.

but is it light proof? If the amount of light leakage is too high plants will get light during their dark cycle

Its outside on car port with no light. I keep my light schedule with the day light hours to salve that problem ( lights on at 6am off at midnight). Once i get the door built and all the vents done im gonna cap off the gaps. Putting a fan in the bottom with vents in the floor for good ventilation and not blowing right on the plants same with the top. Project still in works. Once im done ill post more pics.

So far i have maybe $100 into it between lights, firt, ppm and ph testers, ph control, soil. Playing around with soil. Some are potting soil, some clay rocks, some peat moss and perlite and 2 are a mix of everything. So far the mix are doing the best. Seeds all came from a bag of shake so no idea what they are. Shake was a mix of mids, G13, GSC, AK47, thin mints.
