HLG question and opinion

I have a 4x4x80 tent and am currently running 1 sonofarms sf4000 and 2 spider farms sf1000 one on each side of the sonofarms light and have no issues yet but if and when I do I plan on going HLG no sense in messing around lol but I’m not sure which one to get if you were to only be able to get 1 light do to budget which one would you get to do from start to finish I would love to hear what everyone thinks thanks for any and all information

If it were me in a 4 X 4 I’d want two light fixtures as smaller plants in veg take up less space. Saves me some money that way. Two QB 260’s would likely do it. @dbrn32 would be more helpful though.

The spider farmer SE5000 would be a awesome light for your 4x4 could take plants start to finish with a realy nice even ppfd output the Mars Hydro FC-E6500 would be a solid light as well it would be a little of snugg fit but would be more than enough power would allow you to run it at a lower power draw and expand the longevity of the unit as a whole cause you would never push it to its limits or fome close alao allows head space if you ever wanted to go to a 5x5

Im with you on a pair of 260s for a 4x4… Which is the size of my tent… but 7’… and my hlg600 can make some incredible heat… Found idling maximum (in flower) at 80% 540ish watts… Exactly what two 260s will give… you’ll be able to start up one for kindergarten class. But Yeah, 500/600 watts 4 plants, 1/4-1/2lb per scrog… possibly more with craft and choice genetics

Go for the gusto and get the Scorpion Diablo and call it a day!
You can add 2 UVA and 2 Far Red Fixtures if you like and it all tucks neatly into a 4x4 with no problems!

I looked into those QB 260s and I like what I’m reading seems like there budget friendly and a good light for all stages of life and I like the idea of using more than one light just gives more flexibility that’s what I currently do but only because I didn’t buy enough light the first go around lol thanks for the info much appreciated

Man I really want one of those for sure :100: but my oldlady would freaking kill me if I paid 1500 for a light lol for sure that one is on my list to get but I’ll have to really rack up some serious brownie points with the wife lmao

You cant beat HLG. Customer service is top notch. Im currently running a 260XL and upgrading to the 320 tomorrow. I already have another 320 in my cart…

Get a refurb! They still carry a 1 year warranty and if you’re former military I think you can still get that discount. I’m not sure if other coupon codes will work on refurbs or not.

From what I’ve been reading HLG is the way to go I wish I just bought from them in the beginning cause I’ve probably spent just as much on the 3 I have now as if I would have bought one HLG. which I can’t complain on spider farms and sonofarms products so far there lights have performed flawlessly and seems to be producing quality bud

350r would be plenty imho

I’ve got the 350R in my 2x4 - it’s a great light but you’d lose a ton on the edges of a 4x4 with it. 2 - 350R’s maybe…LOL!

Nah - CO2 requires a very precisely controlled environment and isn’t really used outside of commercial set-ups. There are a few tent growers using it but it’s assistance to the plants is debatable in tents.
The best growers on the site don’t use it and they get by just fine!

Running 2 260xl in my 4x4 and the yield was way better then i thought i would get

I think hlg is best company to deal with right now, hands down. I would rather have a light designed more like chilled tech x6 600 for a 4x4. The closest hlg has to that is scorpion diablo. If the scorpion diablo is out of your budget they have the scorpion r-spec and blackbird as alternatives, and the refurbs are also an option.

HLG 650R and forget about it. The 350R is way more than enough for my 2x4. The 650 should be amazing for a 4x4. You can save a few hundred dollars by getting a refurb if they have one. HLG is the best, period.

I got mine refurb and all I had to do was email them saying I was a vet and they gave me 25% off.
