About ready to put my first grow tent to use. Have a 2x4x6 and growing autoflowers. My light came with a dimmer knob – anyone have any thoughts on what it should be set at during seedling phase and thereafter? I’m assuming I should keep it turned down pretty low for the first couple weeks…but once I’m firmly into Veg and then Flower, should I crank it all the way (provided plants aren’t showing signs of light burn)? Any thoughts on hanging distance? Thanks!
Dimmer all the way down for seedlings and first couple weeks at about 30 inches above plants, which is somewhere between 90-100 watts, then kick up like 20 watts a week. Can stay below 160 watts during veg and then kick it up a bit at a time in flowering until maxed out. I lower the light to about 24" in flowering.
You’re gonna want a way to monitor watts, best way to set the dimmer. I use these:

I probably push my girls harder then I should but I found 21 in during flower to work well but 18 in started creating problems
So that instrument tell you what the wattage use is? Does that serve a different purpose than a light meter?
Yes,it just tells you the watts the light is pulling from the outlet, useful for dialing in lights with dimmers, totally different from a light meter.
Hey thanks again for the tip on the watt meter. Just got one and realized that I had my light turned WAY down. Was at like 70 watts. Turns out the light has both a manual knob dimmer, as well as one that was imbedded in the driver and needed to be cranked up with a screwdriver. It’s my first light, so I didn’t really have anything to compare it to…I probably would have just ran that thing all the way through flower not knowing why I was getting the yields I hoped for. In any event, thanks again - you saved my butt. Now this thing is freaking BRIGHT.
Can increase light with co2 cheap way of adding 25% yield
There was a topic on here actually on my page it was the one before this.
The person had 2-260’s in a 4x4.
The advice giver said use one in veg and then use both in flower.
What’s your opinion?
That would be fine, 1 260 can do a pretty good job of vegging a 4x4, though if I had 2 260’s, I would probably use both at reduced watts for better coverage when the vegging plants got bigger.

1m
I’m running 2 full blast for veg.
I need to get a meter or something and turn those down I guess.
Than
I dont what that 1m is lol
Yeah, too much light during veg can cause issues, usually calmag deficiencies that calmag can’t fix as the plants are being pushed too hard by the intense light.
Yea and to much light during flower can look like phosphorous deficiency on upper leaves happened to one zkittle and she ended up with very low terp production at least it didn’t hurt thc production much
