Hello there, im needing some suggestions on how to dry my fabric pots and clean a mildew spot recently after flushing heavy and then adding nutrients for the last three days the humidity has been high between 68%-74%(i believe from the pots being wet) and it appears some mildew is starting to form
It’s not mildew. It is a mineral salt buildup and is normal.
Midwest is right. I have so many of those that look even worse than yours.
Its no longer water soluble so don’t worry about it. But just as a routine if I am going to reuse a grow bag in the tent I will soak it in a mild bleach water to sanitize it before growing cannabis in it. If I plant herbs or peppers outside I do not bother.
A 5 gallon bucket with about 4 gallons of water and an ounce of chlorine bleach is all it takes. Soak it 10 minutes at least. I usually just wander off and come back after an hour and rinse them. Or you can just take them out and let them dry in the sun. This kills any spores they may be holding. The white salts will still be there but they have zero effect on the next grow. I have plants in bags that have been used several times.
Vinegar will remove the salts between grows if the bags will be reused.
Might try that. It really doesn’t bother me to see it though. And it never has any effect on the plant.
What stage is your grow in? Humidity may not be a concern at this level you stated. I’ve used grow bags and thought the same thing about the mold. Care to share pics of your growing?
Nice plants, you are on track!
Just confirming that this is salt build up, and not a heavy amount of it at all.
I use dedicated industrial washing machines for fabric pot grows that run on warm+gentle cycles with Hyclean and Hygrozyme.
Note: Pots are manually prerinsed before running through a cycle.
Hyclean: Salt removal.
Hygrozyme: Enzymatic root removal [Cellulase].
