Hello all,
Growing several strains from ILGM, one of these is Northern Lights auto flower. I have two of these plants, both germinated together and grown under identical conditions. One is much taller than the other, and the plants look quite different. I’m wondering if one of them is herm or male, but don’t have enough experience to be sure. Or perhaps just different vigor. I’ll try to add photos of each below.
In short, one plant is very tall (over 6’) and has the typical mainstem with leaf branches and bud branches coming out at about 45 degrees, quite open overall. The other is only about 3-4’ tall and has all of the leaves and branches tight to the mainstem, but also lots of buds forming it seems.
Thanks for any input!

Can we get a close up view of the plant you were wondering if it was hermie or male?
A close up view of a few of the nodes/ budsites.
It could just be The way it is growing but it is hard to tell from the pic you posted.
Hello @Bmacpiper… both these plants look female for sure. All the white pistils are a dead giveaway…
Here is a known male pic…
The nodes will look considerably different than a female… good luck!
Thanks all. I will try to get close ups when I’m home again. But yes, lots of white pistils. In the male pic above, do those bud sites ever change, i.e. getting longer? Or do they stay compact and short like that?
Best to all,
bmc
@Bmacpiper, they will eventually looks like bunches of grapes… and stay shorter. Luckily I caught this male in time. Good luck!
OK, here are some updated closeup photos. The first is of the plant I think is female; the 2nd and 3rd are of the one in question. Thanks all!

I don’t see any male parts in the pics you posted. There always seems to be at least one that is a bit different than the rest. Unless they are exact copies of each other you can expect that sort of thing. My brother and I came from the same mother but you couldn’t tell by looking at us
Awesome, thanks. ILGM is reputable so I doubt there’s a high chance of accidental males. I have another plant with this growth habit too. And honestly, who knows whether these two seeds even came from the same mother! I’m sure they have more than one NL mother producing g seeds for sale.
Thanks again to all.
