Hermaphrodite seeds vs hermies pollinating females

I have a question for some of you more experienced growers. Will seeds from a self pollinating plant be hermies as well? I tried my first experiment by accident. I had one plant become a hermi. I removed the pollen sacs as I found them and decided to pollinate specific bud sites. I wound up with 4 plants bearing tons of seeds yet still had some quality bud to smoke. I’m growing my first seed which is an auto and she is beautiful. I heard that the seeds from the hermie will all be hermies as well. This is my concern because I grow for myself only. I’m a medical patient since 2020 and using cannabis has greatly improved my quality of life!! Oh yeah, last thing, the AK-47 auto I pollinated with the hermie pollen…… she’s a female :sunglasses:

Many growers believe that the hermie trait is carried on. It’s nature’s way of perpetuating the species.

You did this on purpose? It would be better to use colloidal silver or sodium thiosulfate to force a female to produce the male pollen you are looking for. These methods will produce feminized seed.

No it was accidental. One plant was exposed to light to early and was stressed by it. I did pollinate a few of the buds on other plants to create my own strains. That worked pretty well and first plant is female with nice sized frosted buds

Its still genetic roulette. If the gene was strong and it hermied due to little or no stress then the offspring carry a high degree of the same trait. Some seeds though might be less prone.
If the cause of the plant turning male was EXTREME stress then the seeds will carry less odds of being hermie. You cant change genetics by environment. But dominate traits will be more likely to show up in offspring. If I dye my hair black my kids wont have black hair. If My hair goes grey at 30 and I was healthy my kids have a good chance of going grey early in life. But If I contract a disease that greys my hair then my children wont inherit that trait because it was environmental and not genetic.

Sorry @MidwestGuy lol I am not that advanced. I’m on my 9th grow and still have issues now and then.
So the hermie seeds will indeed be hermies?
I crossed an AK auto with the pollen from the hermie and she’s a female

All feminized seeds carry the herm trait. It is how they are created. The only difference is how much stress before they herm. Herming naturally without stress factors is still possible and those seeds i would not want to try. Hope this helps.

Actually @Spiney_norman ,
The plant had mild light exposure on one lower section. She still produced female flowers that are actually quite potent! Half a J and I’m sailing away.
It’s just that they all produced seeds. It’s odd to me being new to this that not ALL BUDS have seeds. Some buds I’d break up had not one.

Thanks @Poseidon1
Can you see the photo in this thread? That’s the pollen x an AK auto almost ready to harvest :sunglasses:

Also just crossing those doesnt produce a new strain it makes a hybrid that must be back crossed to stabilize the genetics to produce like offspring becoming a strain

So what are the seeds that were produced from two different strains? What would strain to strain be considered. The one seed I did grow looks great @Medicineman33

A hybrid

Hybrid between the two strains
