Help please! I’ve been going out of my mind for three months now trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve grown 15 plants successfully from seed previously. Now all seedlings I start as soon as their first true leaves get a decent size they point straight down to the dirt. Then tips change lighter color and spread up leaf then they die. While the new leaves all come in tiny and tips change too. Then they become stunted and barely grow at all.
I’ve tried almost every variable I can think of. I have tried the lights = closer/further water =more/less Humidity= higher/Lower. I even have tried a little food on a couple of them (yes even though they are too young, I’m desperate for an answer) The water I do use I ph to 6.3. Right now I have them under cfl bulbs 12 inches away with the humidity around 65 and temp between 76-78. The soil is damp but not wet. I also mist during the day. I’ve tried upwards of twenty seeds in three months and all do the same. The only thing I have not changed is the soil which is straight organic with no nutrients added at all. But I have a bag of Fox Farm soil coming today to try but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas at all? Or if the soil could have been the problem the whole time. I’m including pics of a couple of the plants in different stages. They all do the same thing! Thanks for any suggestions!Over watering.
Once sprout goes into media (nutrient free! use a starter soil or straight coco) place a clear Solo cup over the sprout and the ONLY watering you do for the first two weeks is to mist the dome twice per day.
In two weeks you can transplant.
Lights on at this point 24/0 and temps in upper 70’s.
Thank you. Will give it a try.
That would be my response as well. Slow your roll with the water. They looked awful wet in the pictures to me. Just my $ 0.02
I have one more question. I have my solo cups. I’ve drilled holes in holes in the bottom and filled with starter soil. I have the clear ones to place on top as recommended. Before I place my seed in the soil. (It has sprouted it’s tail soaking in a cup overnight in water with the correct ph.) how wet should the soil be?
I Make a hole to put the seed in and spray over it once, once you cover the seed up spray it again and that’s it.
