Help with HID Lighting

I was thinking about getting a 4x2 tent because I’m the cold environment my plan is to take advantage from the heat of HID lights. My question is what wattage should I go for and what brand of bulbs are best?

First off welcome to the neighborhood, I’m not a bulb guy but I do have a recommendation to get a vented hood for a 1000w with a dimmer so if you decide to expand later on. I think a 400w would do the job but you’d probably be happier with 600w as for brand and any tips again I’m not a bulb guy I only had this to say from reading others talking. Good luck on your venture

600 watt would be perfect.

I went ahead and ordered the 400W MH bulb to see what kind of heat that throws off and when the time comes I’ll buy a 600W HlPS how does that sound?

The ballast that you buy will have to match your light. You can’t put a 600 w bulb with a 400 w ballast. And vice versa.
The ballasts and lights are matched so no stepping up or down to a different wattage bulb after the fact

If you want to go up to a 600 w later you will have to purchase another ballast to match.

Thanks for the heads up

You can also buy a ballast that can dim from 1000 to 600 to 400

My lower leaves are drying up can any one help me find out why?

My light is 18’’ above the tops and I’m using Gia Green’s organic all purpose 4-4-4 3 table spoons per 1 gallon of medium

Plants certainly look like they could stand some help. You should fill out a support ticket since lots of variables contribute to the overall health of the plants. Maybe start a new thread since this is something others who know nothing about HID lighting can help with.

There are too many variables I have no way to measure heat/ humidity or pH/TDS I’m patchworking my grow together as I can afford it these plants are just bag seed experiments don’t care about them much other then to learn from them I was gonna buy a better inline exhaust fan (currently using a CHEAP booster fan to get me by) or should I buy gear to monitor the grow tent first?

Unknown bag seed
Medium is Coco coir( Holland basics “the Coco” rinsed and buffered) I mixed 25L of the Coco with 7litres of worm castings added and mixed in a decent amount of perlite and added 3 tablespoons of Gia Green’s organic all purpose fertilizer per 1Gal of medium (comes out to about 25 tablespoons)
Using 5gal fabric grow bags my total mixed medium only came to 8.45gal so both bags are shy of 5 gal but north of 4
pH, PPM/TDS and EC unmeasurable
Indoor 4’x2’x5’ vivosun grow tent
400watt MH for lighting set 18’’ away
No way to measure heat or humidity
Only a 100cfm booster fan for exhaust with a passive intake and an oscillating fan moving air around inside the tent
