Help with defoliation

i have some gg autos that started showing pistils about 5 days ago now, my only previous grows were just where id plant a bunch of random seeds outside and let em go so im new, should my plants be defoliated at all or should i even attempt it? had 3 going and 1 was hermie so down to 2

Defoliation is done to increase airflow and light penetration. Your plants needs neither. I wouldn’t defoliate at all at this point, though it may need it later as the plant grows out.

ok i appreciate it, i dont even know how to do defoliation which is why im even posting, ive just seen it discussed quite a bit on here so didnt know if it was something that was needed

When she gets bigger this is what you will be trying to do. Goal is to let more air flow don’t have a before pic, but here’s the after

Clean all that off, even buds sites. Buds that low will not mature like to ones closer to the light. Would rather plant focus more energy into bigger buds, then a lot a little airy ones.

Are you growing autos or photos?

Read up on “autos,” as most experienced growers don’t recommend pruning at all. Most do recommend a low stress training if necessary, and only until the first flowers. Look up your strain…either Leafly, Wiki or “Homegrown” will have all the recommendations and facts.

Welcome to the forum @Jeepguy you can’t start one when you’re brand new. Read up a little and you’ll quick go up a trust level and that option will be added.

Yes welcome @Jeepguy

gg autos

welcome @jeepguy…im fairly new as well, you will def get the advice needed here

With autos the average recommendation is only to pull larger fan leaves later on that block bud sites, or leaves that are bunched up on top of each other causing sweat puddles because that can be a breeding ground for mold

ok, when learning to do this, should i have multiple plants and just try 1 at first so i dont ruin em all or is it fairly easy to not botch it up

I am not sure if there is another way but this how I start one

Welcome - Like I said, I don’t know of another way. What I showed you certainly isn’t the most intuitive. Have at it.

Either way honestly. If you bring thoughts and plans here you’ll have experienced feedback. Hard to mess up too badly with the support available!

That being said… more plants realistically does equal more practice.
