Sorry to make another post about harvesting, from what I understand harvesting at the right time is crucial to good bud.
Really like another opinion on it. Some areas the trichomes are different. When I took a sample from the top there’s a lot of amber colored ones but underneath the become clearer. Is this normal? What section(s) do you look at to determine when to harvest?
Anyways, here are the pictures I took. They’re all from the same plant, some of the same area just refocused.
Looks like you got a lot of amber happening. Wondering if this is a picture of the actual bud or on the sugar leaf??? Sugar leaf trichomes will mature faster. Try and get a pic of the middle of the bud and see how you’re looking. Generally you want milky with a bit of amber. Or more amber for a little more CBN which will result in more couch lock.
@PhatPat you got the best charts and pics. I need to try and organize all my charts and stuff I’ve gotten from here. It’s all just in my photos and I have to sift through pics of the plants, work pics and pics of the kiddos to get to them hahahaha.
2024 resolution… organize cannabis charts
I did just that last week. I got tired of sifting through all my photos looking for them. I thought about creating a thread where everyone could add just charts to make it easier for quick reference. Im a chart person. Much better using visual aids for me.
Visual aids are ideal. I love reading through everything but sometimes I may forget some things (I don’t know why hahaha). I love the idea of a visual aid thread!!! Might be on to something right there!!!
It’s the bud. Unfortunately the microscope I got I need to cut off a sample and place in the tray, didn’t think it was like that before I got it. Ordered another one that I won’t need to do that but it’ll be a few days.
Here’s one a took that is the very top middle section of the bud. Would you say she’s ready for harvest?
Kinda hard to tell. It looks like you got some amber from one of the pics there but it seems like there might be a fair amount of clear. It can be hard to tell from pics sometimes.
How long has she been in flower???
The buds on the lower parts of the plant are generally getting less light so it’s not uncommon for the top to mature a little quicker.
Just entered week 7 in flower. She’s a grapefruit feminized. Think I should hold off until I get the other microscope? That way I can look at more of the buds
I’d say hold off a couple days until you can really see what’s going on. Week 7 of flower seems awfully early to be harvesting. Though certainly not unheard of. I got a growmie around here that was growing some stuff that was done after 45 days flower. But a couple days shouldn’t hurt it. Check it with the new one and see where you’re at.
Next question about harvest.(And thank you for your patience with all these questions as this is a huge learning experience for me).
What time if day is best to “CUT” the main stem? Or will it truly make any difference?
I usually chop when the medium is dry. I might skip a watering, then chop. Some say feed until harvest, some say to flush a week. I skip the last watering mainly because pots are lighter and easier to move.
Just how I do it. I water 3 days before the chop and run normal light cycle 12/12. I usually try to plan my chop on saturday morning. No sciency reasoning behind it. Just my process.
I have heard you wanna chop right before the lights go on if possible. Supposedly it allows the plant to send all the stuff down to the roots so you get a purer bud. Or something to that effect.
I have also heard of people running a 48 hour dark period before chop but I have not tried that. There are debates on that issue as well as everything regarding the chop.
No dark period this grow. CHOPPED at 6:00am.
Removed my LEDs. Hung the entire plant back in the grow tent. One fan high, one fan low, carbon gilter and inline fan on.
Zipped it all up dark and cozy long before sun up.
Two weeks will feel like an eternity.
