@dbrn32 well that subject matter crashed into the side of the mountain rather fast. Wasn’t my intention, I was just trying to get some insight before I talked to HLG and my electrician. This is a new build, so all wiring is new, it is also commercial not residential. My local electric supply house has me talking to one of their reps and he is researching it also. I am just trying not to have a separate dimmer for every fixture.
AWG #10 is good for 30 amps under the 60 degree table. Everything is tested and approved underwriters laboratories a third party. They test everything under 100 amps at 60 degrees, and everything over 100 amps at 75 degrees. So since 30 is under 100 amps you have to go by the first column. It is under temperature limitations in the NEC. The code book actually says the ampacity of a #12 thhn conductor is good for 30 amps, but says you cannot hook a #12 to nothing larger than a 20 amp circuit breaker. But there are 3 tables under 210-16. the other one being 90 degree table. Nothing is tested at 90 degrees and if so the breaker, the lugs, the equipment and everything has to be approved at 90 degrees and you have to special order all that and no one does that so basically you cannot use the 3rd column of 90 degree conductor ampacity. The only time you can is for de-rating, lets say you have 4 wires in a pipe, you have to de-rate 80 %, well if you look at AWG #12 the 90 degree column says #12 awg is good for 30 amps, when you de-rate 80% you are still above 20 amps so you can still hook to a 20 amp breaker, but when you go to 10 wires in a pipe you derate 50% you have 15 amps, now you cant hook to a 20 amp breaker anymore legally. Instead of having one circuit 240 volt 30 amps He could pull a neutral and have two 120 volt 20 amp circuits and be golden.
HLG answered all my questions and has a very good solution, which I am going to use for my situation. I want to apologize again for causing what turned into a heated discussion. Was not my intention at all @dbrn32, @zparkie2, @BetrayedSoul

The solution was, talk to the suppliers. I am not knowledgeable enough to answer this question, sorry. I am doing something on a much larger scale. My response would be so full of holes, it would help nobody. It would bring up more questions.

If you have one fixture, purchase a 100kohm pentiometer. More than one fixture, contact your light supplier and hope they are half as helpful as my light supplier.
The eud-600 wasn’t listed as resistance dimming, did hlg tell you it was? I ask because I’ve never had that model, but a meanwell driver would dim properly on a 100k pot.
I’m sorry, my electrician and the supplier are on same page. I am sorry I can’t answer your question. If it doesn’t work, which they both assure me it will, they have both agreed to make it right if it doesn’t. That makes me happy, since I am spending the mooolah.
I believe both an invetronics and meanwell , single driver will dim on a 100kohm pentiometer. If I understand correctly.
I run 4 hlg 600 v2 rspecs I’ll look better at the circuitry but I’m 2 monthes almost at full blast ain’t any thing elecrrivalamwlling nothing is hot I thinks it’s a beefed up sub panel cuz I this it’s a 12kw main. Coming in if that makes sence I was amazed at the number to but I’ll get a lo if of the ecreic box… I have no issues on an thing if anything there on double 20 or 30s I think

I used a hlg 480 2100a for 4 strips I will be around 400 watts a fixture in 4000k for the veg room right now one hlg 600 rpsec is vegging the whole 7 x 9 n the veg cant wait for these 4 x 400 watt customs are done illl have even light over the whole floor so I can get effective equal light anywhere in the room…the potentiometer is easy with the hlg 600 54 b it’s just wired up with the tag eng that’s wire nutted ig I’m jit mistaken mine I bought assembled 3200$ later I’m happy potentiometer actually allows moreits the dimmer knob u need to buy separately to have your fixture dimmable instead if needing small eyeglass Philip’s to adjust it with the a driver which is built in. Of les amperage to the lamps

Pentiometer is just a dimmer. My issue is/was, I am trying to dim and control 24 to 30 of the HLG 600s, depending on room size. Lol, yes I know, a little more than your average personal grow. Yes I found what I needed. This project became more detailed than I realized. But that’s ok. Live and learn. I am learning as I go along, it’s been fun so far. I am sure I will make a mistake or three. Just trying to keep from making huge money expenditure mistakes.
What kinda electric supply you have coming in …what kinda state are you in is it legal to grow this scale ? Wish I was there I know they have a max capacity per circuit your gonna need a standard outlet 2 lights max each outlet I put 3 on one timer and it got hot good thing I caught it not knowing much about electric I’m the polar opposite I do plumbing

I have heard of some that can be controlled by a separate controller that does up to 100 or so lights. But those are expensive california light works. I dont believe they are as good as what you are planning.
You most likely want to use a product like one linked below. There are lots of different models available, but this should give you and idea
