I may have screwed up. I was planning on doing my first indoor grow, set up a fine grow room and then got spooked about it so back to the outdoors I go. Unfortunately I started 3 photos and 3 autos about 5 weeks ago. They were under a fairly low power light for a month and have been under a HLG 350 Diablo for about a week. I have had them under light 24 a day since popped because I was way behind in getting the room set up and did not have the timer set up. Would not have been a problem if I stayed indoors but now I have to get them outdoors without screwing them up. Any suggestions on how to do it without setting off flowering.
The only choice you have is whether to go outside or not. There’s no ability to manipulate nature. Autos will flower as soon as the plant is sexually mature (usually 4 to 7 weeks.) Photoperiod cannabis is capable of flowering at some point where light becomes <15 hours per day. Some plants won’t flower until the day length is down to 12 hours. You’ll have to take a look at the day length in your area and make the judgement call based on day length.
I would do the autos outdoor, after acclimatization, and the photos indoors, they will love that 350 Diablo. It is a perfect size for 3 photos and you can have fun with training.
Is the sun length based on sunrise/sunset or first light/last light. Both are reported. Right now it shows about 14 hours for my area. Can I slowly reduce light until it matches outdoors then get them out. Don’t want them inside for 3 months because of risk. I know autos are not a problem but would love to save these photos they are looking great.
I just made that mistake. I spent all winter growing and taking clones of 4 strains for ~9 clones total, set parents to 12/12…and put clones on 3 season porch @ 14hr, They all began flower. I would either do the photos indoor or slowly reduce indoor lighting to match outdoor daylength before placing outdoor.
They may flower a bit on you when you put them out. They seem to always respond to a drop in light hours like that with a floral trigger. Like put money on it coming off 24 hours.
Just cut off the flowers and hack the plants down to 10-20% their height if they accidentally spring flower a bit. If you wait for them to do it they miss their sun cues and get all confused after the reveg. You don’t want it confused with buds at the solstice. You will have small wispy fall buds.
The root balls are big still, and it’s a photo. Don’t be afraid to hack it back. It will re grow properly and surprisingly quick. Those big roots will push up big tops again. Promise. I hypothesize the flower hormones mess with the re veg transition. If you cut them off it gets the cues right away.
A few pistils is no biggy, but if buds form at the tops cut back is a must. At least humbly from my experience my friend.
Happy outdoor love.
