Help! Gigantic Gelato Auto still not done, after 77+ days since sprouting from the dirt!

Hi! This has not been a perfect grow, but is my fourth plant and the first one that’s been of decent size and not a total disaster.

I noticed ILGM says 8 weeks for most autos. They say 10 for Gelato. I know that means actual time spent above ground and growing (right?). It has definitely been 10 weeks; in fact, it has been 11, and we are going on into 12 now.

I did trim off many of the fan leaves, and I also began flushing (thinking I was beginning flushing late, but I guess maybe not).

It still looks like it needs a few weeks, but it should be done! Help! Some look more done than others. It is huge.

Feel free to guess at the overall yield, too. I am guessing 2-4 dry ounces, which is awesome. (Previous were about an oz. and weak, but that counts the trim, too. As I said, they were disasterous grows.)

Sorry for the ton of photos but figured more is better… I have a terrible time reading trichomes even with a jeweler’s loupe. They look both clear and cloudy to me. I don’t see much/any amber. Pistils are what I usually watch, but they are not all brown/curled yet.

150W mars hydro, 2.3’ by 2.3’ tent with three other plants and a seedling
living soil for autoflowers mixed with happy frog and worm castings
5 gallon square fabric pot which I think bulged out and is now holding a lot more than 5 gallons
organic cal-mag, organic pH up, reverse osmosis water, kelp, myco

Terror level: not too bad (my first three disaster plants I was a nervous wreck… this one will I hope be my ticket to never going to the dispensary again, and my Bannana Kush, AK-47 and GSCE look great! Blue Dream looks as if it is saying to me, “I am doing my best. Why have you failed me?” :crying_cat_face: ing: Please help us!

One of the biggest issues is that I was trying to have a blue dream auto ready for its 5 gallon pot as soon as this gelato was done. However, it’s still not done, and the blue dream is desperate. Is there something I can do for the blue dream? Should I put the gelato outside the tent so it gets really limited daylight? It’s also really dry outside the tent, but that should be fine since it’s in flower anyway.

Plant looks good, I agree with your assessment that you have a few weeks to go. My first few plants checking trichs seemed really hard now it’s a breeze, gets much easier with practice. Be patient, check them every day, and don’t harvest too early and you will see the transformation and start to see what “cloudy” really means. I harvested the first 3-4 early. You have been above ground for 11 weeks. She probably vegged for 3-5 weeks then started to flower which would put you at 6-8 weeks in flower with a few left, not at all unusual. Looks like she could use a little more calcium in her life.

What’s the deal with the blue dream? What size pot is it in now? And you just can’t fit a bigger pot in the tent to uppot?

Do not pay attention to the breeders “estimated” time. This is figured in a lab somewhere with perfect conditions from a perfect plant. It is very very common to go past their advertised flowering time. Most of mine have went 2,3, sometimes 4 weeks longer than what I was told. Ignore their numbers are just go by what you see in front of you. @Eagles009 gave you some great advice…just watch the trichomes, they will tell you when they are ready :+1:

All of my autos have taken between 112-125 days. Be patient and keep doing what you are doing.

Most of them go way past the time like they all said even a month past what they say you go by the trichomes not by what barneys farm tells you theirs always go over the time they say they want ppl to think oh cool nugs in 90 days but thats not reality,But nice beasts bro.I have some I have to wait for the weather im an outdoor guerilla style grower.I got me a few autos this year glue gelato and cream cookies.I also bought some pineapple chunk and mimosa along the bagseed i have redrum and superglue should be a plentiful harvest if deer dont eat my shit and fools dont steal it on 4 wheelers

The breeders flowering times listed are estimated from first sign of flower. So autos would begin the timeline at first pistils. Photos would start after the transition of light flip…and keep in mind that’s in optimal conditions! The only way to know for sure is read your plants! They look great and getting super close

I think you have a photo plant…or an auto with very little rudralis traits. Try flipping your light to 12/12 that should trigger them to flower

I would flip for the rest of the grow. I’ve grown autos from seed to harvest on 12/12 schedule with good results. @Not2SureYet @Nicky are auto growers maybe they can offer more info to help you

I agree with those above. Most plants, photos or autos for me go past the breeders windows. If you have another auto that needs to get squeezed in here. I would put it in a 1 gallon pot and transplant up when you are able. I have transplanted a lot of autos from 1s to 5s my self. Once in the bigger pot. They would take off pretty quick. I take all my plants at all cloudy. That is just a personal choice. One thing I will mention. Is to focus more on what the trichomes show you as to the pistols. I have had plants finish with almost all white pistols before. I would try cutting the light to a 11/13 till you see the change in the auto. Some just take longer before they are ready to flip.
Even the ones that say 9 weeks from seed to harvest never go that way for me. I still get a 7 week veg and then a flower time of what they say the total time is. With that. I would say you are in the ball park. My autos generally take me about 16 - 18 weeks from seed to finish. not faster than if I grew a photo. Their miss leading facts can really make it hard to plan grows if you try and follow them.
I looked back and my Gelato auto took me 16 weeks before I chopped her.
